About this listen

The past comes back to haunt them...

Twenty-five years ago, a schoolgirl was attacked. Ambushed by three bullies at her home where she lived alone with her granny.

Now, the mother of one of those bullies is found murdered on the Hobfield housing estate. Written on the wall in the victim’s blood is the word “sorry”.

Detective Tom Calladine and his partner DS Ruth Bayliss discover a link to some bones found at an old house up in the hills. It was the home of the teenage girl who was attacked.

The detectives have more than this puzzling case on their hands. Arch-villain Lazarov is threatening Calladine’s granddaughter and a valuable hoard of Celtic gold is coming to a local museum.

The pressure is on, and this time Calladine is cracking...

Dead Good

Thoroughly enjoyed this book, read expertly by Jonathan Keeble, the best narrator around by far. All in all - excellent.

Fantastic Book & Narration

Absolutely brilliant!!
Almost cried at the end, can’t say anymore as don’t want to spoil it for other listeners. Great series and love Jonathan’s narration. Actually found this series because of Jonathan’s narration after listening to the Dci Ryan books. Helen & Jonathan never fail to deliver!

Excellent as always

Very good storyline, great characterisation from the narrator, better than some of the previous stories but I'm addicted to this book series.

Not up to usual standard

I really like the Helen Durrant - Tom Calladyne stories, and normally live Jonathan Keeble's narration.

However, for some - unknown - reason on this one, he changed DCI Greco's posh accent to one much less so, and I couldn't understand why , as I thought it diminished him slightly.

I had all the main characters' voices clear in my mind over nearly a dozen previous stories - couldn't see any advantage in this.

Please change it back!

Narration of dreams.

Fantastic character arcs - Bayliss & Calladine get better with each tale. The story wasn’t as strong as I’d like but was more than made up for by the incredible Jonathan Keeble - that man can do no wrong!
