About this listen

The Guilty Man is a mystery full of stunning twists from number one best-selling author Helen H. Durrant.

A little girl, presumed dead, turns up playing happily in the park. She is barefoot but otherwise unharmed. The child’s mother who lives on a notorious local estate doesn’t seem bothered that her daughter has returned alive.

Meanwhile, a man is tortured by a ruthless criminal. The victim’s severed hand is left on his wife’s doorstep.

Detective Harry Lennox and DI Jess Wilde investigate. How do the cases connect, and who is using threats to drive people out of their homes? Harry Lennox is battling his own demons, trying to bury a secret from his past with alcohol. He stays in a rundown campervan on a friend’s driveway. Jess wants to know why he’s living like this, but he refuses to tell her anything. What's he hiding?

It was a good listen. It kept me wondering who did what. Nicely written with not too much waffle.

Found the story a bit slow to start with but picked up into a really good story. Would recommend

Bit of a slow burner to start

Well read, nice to hear a man's narrative for a change. The story has an unexpected twist.

The Twist

I found this book disappointing- have enjoyed this author previously. Poor Scottish accent for one of the main characters didn’t help. Nice twist at the end but it felt like the whole story was a set up just for that. Not much detecting going on either!

Dissatisfying

After listening to several of Helen Durrant books I eagerly anticipated this new series to be as good. So disappointed, not a gritty crime novel but just a silly story

Don’t waste a credit
