About this listen

With her death foretold, Althea Zoltaire only has three years to become what she’s always dreamed of being: a warrior legend. Women are forbidden to wield blades, so she has trained in secret her entire life. Now racing against the clock, she fights to secure her place in the elite guild charged with the protection of the five kingdoms.

The sparring and hazing of the new trainees border on deadly, but even more dangerous is her growing attraction to Wilder Hawthorne, her unwilling warrior chaperone. All around them, schemes are afoot and darkness looms.

Will Althea pass the perilous initiation test and take her place as a champion of Thezmarr—or will the invading evil snatch away her dream before it starts?

Blood & Steel is the gripping first book in the heart-pounding, epic romantic fantasy series, The Legends of Thezmarr.

It’s a mix of blood and ash, serpent and nightwings fourth wing. Very slow burn!

Mix of the fan favorites

First of all the narration itself wasn’t my favourite. It made Theia sound 16 not 24. The dialogue also didn’t help as they all sounded more like teen drama kids. The story was okay although there isn’t much plot it’s all character driven and about Theia becoming a warrior and training. It did feel too long. The romance was very very slow burn and again felt more YA.

It’s was okay. A bit too YA even though it’s not meant to be

it's slow burn, sometimes a tad boring. But you just know this series will be worth it it. Promising start to a great romantasy story.

Rushing to book 2! I love all the characters that are very well written. Both MMC and FMC are very likable and I care about what happens to them.(unlike in SJM series)

The only snag is I don’t understand why the male narrator doesn’t do Wilder’s lines throughout and not just his POV.

Having said that Molly Stark is excellent, better than the male narrator

What a feat, the story!!

I devoured this book in two days, couldn't put it down. Some people have said it's a slow burn but I found it to be relatively fast paced

Loved it

I felt the story was slow in the beginning and almost gave up, but am so glad I persevered. The relationships are gradually built up and feel real, can’t wait for the bully to get comeuppance. The secondary characters contribute to the world building, there are definitely some I want to see brought down a peg or two and some whose story bears more telling, still some secrets there. You know from the beginning that Wren and Althea are orphans and that they will turn out to be “special”, that doesn’t detract from the tale. Looking forward to Book 2 and the continuing journey of discovery and romance.

If you’re debating this, don’t. Just buy it. It’s amazing. A fantastic story that’s well written and well narrated. Haven’t found better.

Fantastic

What can I say… 🤷🏼‍♀️?! I just couldn’t get emotionally attached to the main leads and their budding romance. Something was missing. Hell if i know what that something is… but… it’s missing. Making this just an 3 star ⭐ OK for me.

That ending was so anticlimactic… like paint dry(ing … (yaaawning) 🫢utterly boring.
Grinning… I bet these 5 star reviewers must have read a whole nother book! Ooops my bad then (giggling) 😆

It was ok. Yeah— Just An “OK”

I tired a couple of times to get into this book / story but it’s just to YA feeling but not in good way in a YA way it’s more like a teen way & I didn’t engage with any of the characters. I also found it boring I’m sorry to say!

Not for me!
