About this listen
The Bachelor meets The Hunger Games. Ten women. A deadly contest. Only one can win the Sun King's heart.
Lor has endured twelve long years of torment under the Aurora King's rule. Her only desire is to get free and pay him back for every moment of misery she's endured.
When a surprise release finds her in the hands of the Sun King, Lor is thrust into the spotlight as she competes against nine other tributes for the role of queen. If she wins his heart, she'll earn her freedom and finally get her revenge.
But Lor doesn't belong in the Sun Queen trials. Not only does she not understand why she was freed, she isn't a citizen of the Sun King's court. The other tributes resent her presence and will stop at nothing to ensure Lor is wiped off the gameboard—permanently.
Now Lor must win because if she loses, she dies. Or worse, she'll be sent back into the hands of the Aurora King.
This glittering fae romance is perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas, Jennifer Armentrout, and Raven Kennedy. Trial of the Sun Queen is the first book in the Artefacts of Ouranos series with an eventual happy ever after.

Mmm...
Like so many books I've read before - the cruel king, TOG, the hunger game, the plated prisoner, the runner, ACOTAR, star of shadows etc, etc - it wasn't original for me, nothing I haven't read or seen in a movie and yet, It was well written and the audio version was really good!
I'm curious if the rest of the series will be better or be different from the other books that I've read.

Intrigued for the next book
I enjoyed this and it did have me drawn in but I I also found myself with my skin crawling a bit. I did not like the Sun King at all and his character made me feel uneasy. I also did not like Gabriel. I felt that Lor was an interesting character but felt like her secret was quite obvious. Still want to know what happens nexts and really liked the character and narration of Nadir!

Interesting start
This story hooked me quickly. Definitely worth a listen, though I will warn that the fmc is a bit inexplicably stupid sometimes when her character doesn't indicate that she should be, and there are some repetitive parts of her thought process that could have been left out as the author reminds us almost every chapter about her motivations and her low opinion of herself. It's a waste of words. Other than that, great action and narration. I look forward to the next instalment.

Nice story, narrators less so
The story is quite nice but the narrators leave room for improvement. Especially the male narrator who puts on a semiwhispering vocal fry performance is really annoying - he did a voice for a character and that was actually nice, so I don't understand why he doesn't do that for his chapters.

Splendid!
Accidentally listened to this all throughout the night and bit my nails down to silly little stumps—everything was great. I loved the story and the narrators did this book more than justice. 100000/10

Good book
Similar to TOG and ACOTAR so if you enjoy those you will enjoy this, predictable in some places but still a very good story

Holy gods the male narrator would make a shopping list sound wonderful
Unlike the other reviews I didn't find this like ACOTAR / TOG, it's not in the same league but it's a fun, easy story. I wish they swapped narration throughout the book using the male narrator for male characters instead of dividing it by chapter. It's a shame as the male narrator Corvin King, well let's just say he's the reason I stayed with this book. An easy, frivolous story that won't rock your world like ACOTAR / TOG but doesn't set your teeth on edge like the endless details in Jennifer L. Armentrout's books.
