About this listen
He is powerful, older, and my boss, a lethal combination. Job satisfaction has taken on a whole new meaning.
When I lied on my resume, I didn’t expect it to matter. I mean any child would love me; I was born to be a nanny. I applied for a position working for a woman, or so I thought. But Julian Masters is definitely all man...the kind you dream of licking chocolate from.
The first day was bad. The kids were the spawn of the devil and I spied through a window and caught him doing something obscene...and equally fascinating.
The second day was worse, he caught me snooping in his bathroom cabinet in my skimpy pyjamas and all hell broke loose.
On the third day, I ran over him in a golf cart.
And by day four I had decided that I wanted that chocolate...all of it. Melted...on me.
But intelligent, widowed Judges don’t fall for ditzy nannies. Or do they?

The narrators did a great job of bringing the characters to life, but the female narrator wasn’t great at male voices. Mr East was of course fabulous as usual.
As with the kindle there were many factual and cultural errors. Ms Swan has a habit of not doing her homework when writing about British characters, and here was no exception. In Britain we do not have Court Houses. Mr Masters is very unlikely to be a Supreme Court Judge given his age (not enough years experience) and if he was a Supreme Court judge he’d be unlikely to be sitting on a first instance criminal case like he is at the beginning of the book. Mr Masters would never under any circumstances use the word “soccer” to describe football. (I was gratified to see Willow does at least correct this). There were many others. It’s very basic stuff that can be easily researched online, so there is really no excuse.
Having put aside those irritations it’s a great story, if you suspend disbelief, love age gap, grumpy boss, forced proximity romances. Then you will love it. It also has a HEA with no cliffhangers.
