Summary

Random House presents the unabridged downloadable audiobook edition of The Little Teashop of Lost and Found by Trisha Ashley, read by Colleen Prendergast.

Alice Rose is a foundling, discovered on the Yorkshire moors above Haworth as a baby. Adopted but then later rejected again by a horrid stepmother, Alice struggles to find a place where she belongs. Only baking - the scent of cinnamon and citrus and the feel of butter and flour between her fingers - brings a comforting sense of home.

So it seems natural that when she finally decides to return to Haworth, Alice turns to baking again, taking over a run-down little teashop and working to set up an afternoon tea emporium.

Luckily she soon makes friends, including a Grecian god-like neighbour, who help her both set up home and try to solve the mystery of who she is. There are one or two last twists in the dark fairy tale of Alice's life to come...but can she find her happily ever after?

Good storyline

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Maybe. A lot happens to our heroine so that is interesting.

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Little Teashop of Lost and Found?

A great twist later in the book. Did not see it coming and I always do.

What aspect of Colleen Prendergast’s performance might you have changed?

The story had 3 voices running through it and there really should have been a pause between each and a change of accent. Two were identical and it was hard to follow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Ish

Any additional comments?

Not much romance - thank god. But totally predicable ending, as always. That is always a shame; but the twist made up for it.

Good all-round telling of someone's life

I really enjoyed the thorough yet short telling of Alice's early life. No unnecessary long-winded babblings about unimportant moments from her childhood. Then the story travelled theough to adulthood in a very smooth manner and brought the reader completely up-to-speed with the present day.
I thought figuring out Alice's parentage mah be predictable and straightforward but I was so pleased that Trisha Ashley dangled a carrot in front of me and then switched it at the last minute...well done!
Colleen Prendergast was on top-form as narrator, allowing me to guess who was speaking before she even revealed who it was herself.
This was a highly enjoyable story that I would love to hear again.

Not one of the best

Story ok, but predictable. What was very disappointing was the narration-it was a bit like listening to a shopping list; it lacked emotional depth or any feeling of light & shade.

Very enjoyable book

The book was well written and pleasant for a relaxing day. The reader made for easy listening. With some audio books, the voices can be annoying, especially when the reader changes the sound of each character unsuccessfully. This reader did a very good job of voicing the variety of characters in such a way that you can get lost in the story without undue focus on the readers voice.

Enjoyed the story

I enjoyed the story but I found the narration a little irritating. Too slow and a little stilted.

Great easy listening

A very heart warming story. A fairytale almost.
For a long time I had no idea it is narrated by two people as the reader didn’t change the voice or no pause was made between them to clarify it.
Apart from that I would recommend. Loved it!

Good story

I did enjoy this book although found it a little predictable- I even guessed the twist. For future listeners at the end of each chapter the story flashes back and until you realise it it's quite confusing!! I found the narrators phrasing very odd and it spoilt it somewhat for me
