Summary

It's been months since the day we stood above that empty grave that stunk of burnt flesh and secrets. All of us were dressed to the nines, one of us wearing a wedding dress, a day that was supposed to mark the beginning of a new adventure. It marked the bitter end of our vengeance.

We have done things that have marked our souls for eternity. But before we get there, we have to go back. Back to where it all started. The place I could find in my sleep.

Hollow Heights University in the macabre, somber seaside town of Ponderosa Springs. A college for prestigious, wealthy children to receive the highest education. A town drowning in treachery and secrets that became our damnation. But it wasn't the forest surrounding the grounds or even the mysterious hidden mausoleum that haunted me.

It was them. The ones that lurked in the night, things so wicked, so twisted, so evil, they would become the rulers of my nightmares. The Hollow Boys. One wrong move and I landed myself directly in their line of fire.

This is not a story about love, it is not a story of happy endings. Love just happened to blossom in our sorrows, in our pain, our fear, our blood.

Every terrible thing they ever did, we watched, we helped, we loved them anyway. Some run from their monsters, we fell in love with ours.

Contains mature themes.

Not the best

2. ⭐️

This is a very popular book so I was so surprised the author hasn’t gone back and edited the parts that had errors. I listened to this on audio. And I struggle so hard. It did not flow.

So I even read it a couple of times on my kindle. That did not help. I picked up on errors. I don’t know if this was the author first ever released book…? But they shouldn’t be there. Not when this book has 5 ⭐️ reviews. I know a lot of readers take no notice but a lot of readers who have read for many years do. Like me I pick up on everything.

I was excited to read this book. The hype is big on Instagram and the cover is stunning. But I didn’t love it. I feel like this type of story has been done do many times so it needs to be amazing and stand out. The human trafficking makes it stand out. That’s about it. It’s college setting with a group of guys who are meant to be dark. I didnt find this book dark…. But I did love the characters. The plot did have holes but the overall plot as a story is good. It is basically insta love. Which I didnt love the fmc falls pretty fast for a girl who isn’t meant to be very nice. It happens within like a page 😂 sometimes I found my self having to go back because I thought I missed something when I hadn’t.

I am a reader who love details, the world details are there. I pictured them but the inner monologue was so bad. The characters constantly repeating the same things over and over again and listening to that is hard.
I feel like this book could have been amazing. The audio wasn’t the best. I think it was because of the plot. I loved the guy narrating but I didn’t love the woman I felt she came across older than the character and when the woman narrator spoke in a man voice it really put me off.

I am going to read the second and third book because I just want to read Thatcher book. I loved him.!
I really hope the author had beta readers and a great arc team for the next two books. Having a great reading team behind you really helps. People who are very truthful, this book really needed it.
