About this listen
Sometimes, you shouldn't go home....
For years, the abandoned MacKenzie mansion remained hidden in rural Wisconsin. Rumors and stories of apparitions, odd noises, accidents, and strange deaths in or near the property were enough to convince the townsfolk it was haunted, and they stayed away.
Lucas MacKenzie and his brother, Nate, know nothing of this when they inherit the property and decide to bring their families to Wisconsin for a major renovation project with HGTV stardom in mind. As they tear out old fixtures and open shuttered windows, the house begins to reveal secrets of a terrible past, and it soon becomes clear the MacKenzies are in grave danger. In the end, only one person can save them.

Well, that was different!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narrator was excellent, apart from her English accent - not all English are posh!

Good haunted house story
At first I thought it was the usual rich Americans renovating a haunted house. Yes it is the that but it has more depth to the tale with a dramatic ending. I enjoyed it.

KAZ 🇬🇧😃Ok book 📖
This was supposed to be a horror story but some of it just doesn't make sense to me There's a haunted house apparently with strange stuff going on but then there's people from the past who are hundreds of yr's old popping up from there I honestly didn't know what was happening The narration was ok until she attempted an English accent which was bloody awful The storyline weak & some of the character's just got on my nerve's so I'm giving it a 2 out of 5 NOT Impressed with this book at all 🙄🙄 Just so confusing definitely regret buying this rubbish

I suppose that if
you can get beyond a reliance on the tropes of national stereotypes then this might be your sort of thing.
I'm a Scot. And even I know that not all of the men south of the border sound and act in an effete manner. The idea that Twinings tea can be taken as a shorthand for refinement and centuries of breeding is...
Well, as I said, this might just be your sort of thing if you prefer it to character development, plots without holes and a performance that emphasises the shortcomings of the narrative.
Your choice. Enjoy!
