About this listen

The world did not end in a single night. It rotted from within.

The infection spread like wildfire, consuming cities, collapsing governments, and bringing entire nations to their knees. The powerful fled. The desperate fought. The doomed prayed. But the undead were relentless, devouring everything in their path.

From the fall of New York City to the last stand in London. From the Pope’s final sermon in the Vatican to billionaires seeking refuge in Switzerland’s most fortified bunkers. This is the story of how civilization crumbled, one country at a time.

A brutal, unflinching account of global collapse, Rotting Earth takes you deep into the chaos, where soldiers fought hopeless battles, world leaders made impossible choices, and ordinary people faced horrors beyond imagination.

The dead did not rest.

And there was no one left to stop them.

A great take on earth’s apocalyptic downfall on many different perspectives. I binged this in two days and loved it from start to finish.

Rotting Earth: Fall of Nations is intense and unapologetically brutal. The storytelling makes it feel eerily real. The graphic detail is over-the-top in the best way. Gruesome and gripping.

‘Rotting Earth: Fall of Nations’ delivers a hauntingly realistic and brilliantly structured account of a global collapse, told through chilling, documentary-style storytelling that feels disturbingly plausible. Its global scope and non-linear format provide a refreshing departure from traditional zombie fiction, capturing the sheer scale and chaos of an apocalyptic event with gritty, unflinching detail. The book’s attention to geopolitical nuance and scientific realism adds a layer of depth rarely seen in the genre, making it perfect for fans of high-stakes, intelligent survival narratives.

I found it engaging and very gripping. What stood out most was how it portrayed the collapse through multiple perspectives across different countries, creating a truly global sense of doom.

so first off i would like to say that I found this to be a very enjoyable listen as I do love a good zombie audiobook. But I have just one issue with the story, I found that much of the story and characters had a defeatism attitude. I found that many people just gave up in the world and didn't even try to survive. But again this is my only negative review about the book and I still enjoyed it very much

I liked the concept of following different nations and leaders as they dealt with the infection

Ngl this ain't your grandma's zombie tale. It's a full-throttle, no-holds-barred plunge into humanity's last stand. This joint don't just show the world ending.. it makes u feel every scream, every collapse, every hopeless prayer . From the Pope's final sermon to billionaires bunkering down, it's a wild ride thru a world gone mad. Mark L. Everett brings the chaos to life, makin' you feel like you're right there in the trenches. Some folks say it's the realist zombie story out there, no cap.. A straight-up bonkers in the best way!

This is excellent. Hearing accounts of the plague from different perspectives all over the world was great. It feels like the start of an epic saga and I'm looking forward to hearing more.

really loved how it gave different perspectives on the outbreak. it wasn’t just one person’s story, but a mix of voices that showed how everyone was affected in different ways. It made the world feel so much more real and intense.

So cool!!

You get snapshots from governments, survivors, and soldiers across the world as society collapses. It’s not emotional or character-driven. But if you like realism, global strategy, and survival logistics, this hits hard.

This isn’t your typical zombie novel

Expected a straight sci fi with this, just based off the cover, but wow! So much different than expected, I wasn't sure who the main character was, but it was interesting to see the world through many lenses and to learn of a really creepy virus

Not what I expected
