Brilliant piece of work. Needs an index.

A brilliant way of consuming Lovecrafts stories in a more convenient manner. Players read the tales with a suitable clear ominous reverance that lends it's self well to the subject matter.
My only critism is the lack of titles to the "Chapters" of what is essentially an anthology of short stories. Some stories take up multiple chapters where most only take up one, but without an index or Chapter references/titles it's difficult to select a particular tale with ease without flipping through the sixty odd chapters.
That niggle aside this audio book is a fine production whether you're wanting to try Lovecrafts work for the first time or you just want the luxury of having a weird creepy tale read to you while you rest or bathe.

Brilliant

Being new to Lovecraft, I downloaded this on a whim. I was blown away. Phenomenal stories and the range of narrators used are spot on. Surely a must listen for anyone who considers themselves a horror fan!

Where it came from

Great writing and great stories. I hadn't heard much of H. P. Lovecraft before until I started reading lore on the game "Bloodborne" and found it fascinating. I enjoyed the stories very much and would recommend to anyone into science fiction. I found out that Stephen King was inspired by Lovecraft and thought I may as well give it a good, I know can't stop listening to it. I know understand why so many writers take inspiration from his writing. Well done sir, well done.

Discovering the Mythos

This was a great place to start for anyone who hasn't explored the work of Lovecraft before. I thought the other reviews were a little harsh compared to my experience.

Phenomenal. What a journey!

I'd never read any of the lovecraft books, but love the popular rpg and style from which so much other popular media draws on. A wonderful and weird trip. Must recommend.

Chillingly wonderful

The collected works here hold steady that Lovecraft is just as relevant today as he was when thes works were written. All chilling tales of the abnormal grotesque-ness on the edge of human understanding. A brilliant collection to keep you enthralled as the narrator and stories change regularly keeping you engaged throughout

Repetitive with great moments

Never having listened to any Lovecraft before I was aware of the reputation and influence his work has had on many of my favourite authors so I was intrigued. Overall I am glad I have heard these stories but many of them dragged terribly.
I enjoyed the Chthulu stories but by in large his protagonists are flat and suffer from being very two dimensional.
The performances are on the whole good with a couple so monotone that I found it a little hard to stay focused.
I would recommend dipping into this audio book in small snatches lest you will get a little annoyed with his repetitiveness of themes and words.
For an interest in where the modern horror started though it is a good place to look.

brilliant existential horror that holds its own

loved it is holds up even against modern horror novelization. Through this you can see the origins of many horror tropes that we typically see in sifi horrors. lovecraft was a man whos work was deeply driven by his own fear; of the sea, the mental illness and of a meaningless death.
