bit of a mixed bag here some of the short stories are brilliant, and a pleasure to listen to. Others were not so good and were a challenge to listen to.

As with most collections like this, the stories varied from really good to forgettable. Nothing stood out as bad but it is long and I did feel if I listened to a few at a time they did seem to bleed into one another. The narrator was solid with exception of the odd dodgy accent. Personally I like collections of stories to mix up the narrator's a little. All in all,

would recommend, credit well spent.

Some really good stories that capture the imagination. My first introduction to Lovecraft monsters and certainly worth the wait.

Some stories are much better than others but the narration remains brilliant throughout. Have recommended based on the strength of some individual stories.

some of the stories were ok. but most were predictable and some poorly written. the claim that it's by Neil gaiman is false. he just wrote the first short story. quite good but short. some of the others were dire, some just a joke. the narration was less than inspiring and some of the accents were hilariously bad.

Good collection of stories based around Lovecraft themes, some of the earlier stories are incredibly good and have you sitting on the edge of your seat, (my personal favourite was the goat nurse) but others towards the end felt a little too drawn out with background, I'm not sure I would recommend if you do not already know a little about the mythos. Natation was good and gives a distinctive foreboding feel throughout. overall an enjoyable listen.

These are related to HP Lovecraft's work and some stories try to pickup the story threads from where Lovecraft left them.
Some are interesting, others not so much, few however capture a similar atmosphere as Lovecraft did.

Nevertheless it was overall enjoyable.

Interesting take on Lovecraft stories

It starts well and builds chapter by chapter to some terrifying events.
The readers are good, the writing is sharp.
It made my skin crawl and the hair prickle on the back of my neck.
A deliciously macabre collection of work. It starts with Lovecrafts writings and builds some fresh nightmares on those foundations.

Best enjoyed by a fireplace or candlelight, in the dark with a glass of restorative spirit close at hand.

Not every chapter is a classic and not every tale is a winner but the collection hits far more often then it misses.

Rating: A-
A few tiny flaws prevent it from being perfect but it's a gloriously twisted companion to spend an evening with.

Creepy, mind mangling, terrifying stuff

Unsurprisingly for a collection of short stories by different authors, it's a bit of a mixed bag. The best stories are the ones that attempt to borrow heavily from Lovecraft or parody him; some other stories feel like the cosmic horror element is is just a background feature. Perfectly solid narration with some fun and not overbearing accents.

An issue specific to the audiobook is that the chapter titles don't tell you what story you're on or who wrote it; a table of contents feels like a basic feature that was overlooked.

What did you like best about this story?

Good mix of HPL inspired stories, all an hour-ish long so great for a commute. Some better than others but good fun. Got to the monsters without the pages of vague waffle about architecture and bas-reliefs that the great man was so fond of.

Any additional comments?

Well worth a read, as with most short story collections, a chapter listing would be great rather than just numbers.
