About this listen
Appearing on a local news show? Just because something happened to me?
I live mostly in isolation on purpose.
But here I am.
I was so nervous that I needed the make-up chair, twice.
And then I walked past his room.
He's a giant—no softness, all muscle.
And a rich beard that made me want to rub myself all over it.
He made me see stars, literally because the second time I saw him, I tripped.
Or I would've, but he caught me, and the cameras were rolling.
Soon, that clip will be trending because he wasn't just another guest on the show.
He's Brett Broudou, the Kings' newest football star.
We couldn't be more opposite.
The only special thing about me is the reason I was on the show.
Brett, the Super Bowl champion, and me, the survivor who helped bring down the infamous Midwest Butcher.
Brett might not think he's anyone's hero, but he's about to become mine.

I would’ve liked to have heard the reactions of the other characters, but that ending…
Loved it.

The bits that bored me were the build up to the relationship between Billie and Brett, and a lot of their interactions together. I found the build up really slow and stuttery, and a lot of their interactions rather melodramatic. Their relationship felt quite claustrophobic. Every time we came to a sex scene I just wanted to skip it - which is so not like me!
What I loved was the humour, particularly Lo and Roger and their interactions with Billie. I loved that Billie was strong and independent, and that Brett was an alpha. I loved all the serial killer stuff, the twists and turns (most of which I guessed). There are still a few unanswered questions from some of the characters, which knowing Tijan might pop up in another book. I loved all the references to previous characters from other books (Stone and Dusty being two of my favourite characters).
Overall it was a good solid listen, even if I probably wanted to fast forward about a quarter of the book. Both narrators were great - two of my favourites. Well worth the credit.
A good listen overall

I have read a few of Tijan's books over the years, this is now up there as a favourite.
