Summary
Do you wish you could get your dog to behave better?
Southend Dog Training founder Adam Spivey can help. In this indispensable book he teaches you all you need to know to build a better connection with your dog and solve any behavioural issues with simple, proven training techniques. He won't just tell you what to do to get your dog to listen to your commands, but will also help you to understand how your dog thinks and why they might be struggling with certain things.
Here are just a few of the things How to Train Your Dog will help you with:
- Lead training, recall and reactivity when you're out and about
- Jumping up, excessive barking and reacting to the TV or doorbell
- Do's and don'ts for households with children and/or multiple dogs
- Chewing, biting and destructive behaviour
No matter how big or small your dog's issues, whether it's old or young, a rescue or puppy, or if you live in a multi-dog household, Adam's inimitable straight-talking approach will get you to a better place with your best friend.

Very straightforward
I didn’t really know what a dog was. I learned that owning a dog is not like having a child. I mustn’t humanise him.

breaking bad
Great detailed how to from start to finish, from puppy to rescue dog and all in between.
he teaches the basics such as sit to the real reason I got this book which is the holy grail of recall.
I have only just began to implement the strategies in this book.

It’s like a bible for dogs.
I’m a big fan of Adam I have listened to this audiobook and his first book both with himself reading, I also follow him over facebook (I don’t even have a dog, yet) it’s packed with loads of advice and tips which I always find inspiring and you get all this for 1 credit! Few pounds, complete bargain in my eyes. Hopefully one day I’ll get the dog I so badly want.

Great information
I like the no nonsense, straight talking style of the book. The information is great for dogs but more importantly dog owners. I can think of a few people with dogs that need to read / listen to this book.
The only small downside to listening to the book was I could hear that the author had a cold / blocked up , so the nasal sound was abit off putting.
I've listened to both books now and have slowly been implementing the fantastic advice to my rescue dog. Keep up the good work SDT!

Easy to implement training book
The reading style is a little monotone, but the content is well worth the listen. No frills or nonsense, just good basic training skills needed for all dogs.

Insisting all my dog owning friends listen too!
a great, easy to understand and apply book. covers a wide range of topics - I have a puppy SO I was concerned it would be more adult focussed, but it's the perfect follow up to how to raise the perfect dog. Even though some issues we haven't met yet - it mentions how to prevent them and how to train all ages. I'm ready for the third book! 🙈

clear and straight to the point
made it very personal as it was read by Adam himself and with real passion in his voice.I would Highley recommended to ALL dog owners, infact I think everyday owner shoukd be made to read this before even getting a dog. Ive had staffies over 35 years so likecto think I know the breed very well, however I have learnt So much from listening to this Audio. I found the Multi dog household Chapter very useful. Learning is a journey and we should always keep Learning from each other.
