About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Happy dog. Happy owner.
A dog with behavioural issues is an unhappy dog. And likely has an unhappy owner.
But the good news is that, at heart, every dog is a good dog. Every dog wants to behave well for you and make you happy, but whether they're being diverted by fear, stress or uncertainty, something is stopping them.
Enter: the Dogfather. Having worked with more than 5,000 dogs - from Great Danes to Chihuahuas and everything in between - he has seen every behavioural issue going, whether it’s aggression, house destruction, refusal to obey commands or extreme anxiety. Through the stories of some of special dogs he’s loved or helped, he will give you the tools to understand and help your beloved pooch and bring much-needed harmony to your home.

Great book and so I formative
Loved this book. It really is packed with so much advice and guidance. I watched the TV show by Graeme previously as well and found it absolutely engrossing. Graeme presents the book so well and I thoroughly enjoyed his narration, sense of humour and was impressed by his impressions of different accents, esp. his Scottish accent….I’m from Edinburgh ! Thanks Graeme. Can’t wait for the next TV series or book. I’m planning to retire soon and hoping to get myself a puppy one day 🙂 so this book will be invaluable to me soon I hope.

Excellent
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this! It was great fun, amusing and very reassuring. The only reason I have marked it down a bit is because the chapter on “kids and dogs” wasn’t really about kids at all but babies only. Having a 4yr old at home it would have been useful to hear some tips for the relationship between children (younger and older) not just babies. I was a bit disappointed by that chapter. A lot of this book is about understanding and reading your dog to understand how to train them and what they might be thinking which I think is probably more helpful than “do this” and “do that” although on the face of it you might think it’s not telling you a lot. I’ve never watched Graeme’s program on the TV but I will do now as it seems there is almost always an answer to fix a dogs problem which is so reassuring to know having a new collie puppy at home determined to chase cars! 😩

Loved, Loved Loved It! - Thank you :)
Having just rescued two adult dogs, I discovered Graeme on Channel 5 with Dogs Behaving Very Badly as I started to doubt whether I could train these two poor damaged souls and whether I had bitten off more than I can chew this time.
It was such a pleasure to discover this book on audible and a bonus that Graeme read it himself. Such a lovely accent, wonderful rolling tones, and a really easy listen. I was glued to it and I could relate to all stages of a dog's life having lived with dogs for over thirty years. I both laughed and cried at the stories and antics. I also loved the sense of humor and quick wit.
Thank you for reinstating my confidence in believing in these two doggies and thank you for such a great book.

Funny, relatable and informative
This is the book on audible that I’ve enjoyed the most, ever. It’s really easy listening and Graeme’s lilting tones, sense of humour and relaxed way make it a real pleasure. The content is informative, although without giving away too many trade secrets, well researched and humorous. The final chapter is a real tear jerker, thank goodness for the epilogue to lighten the mood again.

Essential listening for dog owners
I thoroughly enjoyed this from beginning to end and everything in between. Felt I was joining Graham in his fascinating journey as a dog trainer and behaviourist. From laughing out loud to shedding a tear as he goes through every stage of a dogs life to the very sad but realistic ending.

A gud common sense approach to dog training and problem solving.
An enjoyable listen. Graeme seems to have a well thought out approach to dog training. I have heard people criticise his approach because he uses corrections but if you actually listen to him you will see as with Cesar Milan these are neither excessive or the first line but more of a dog language approach to help problems with dogs that have been created by us over indulgent owners and are nothing more than a means of snapping the dog out of behaviours that are a sign of unhappiness. These actions simply mimic the way dogs correct each other. I love the way he has not thrown out the pack leader concept but through thought and observation has recognised that dogs are not looking to lead us but if by our actions we constantly tell them we are followers they will have to attempt take on the role and this is what is often the root of the problem. I have observed with my dogs how one can easily control the other with just a look and a confident attitude.
