I struggle with hearing
loss so the clarity of the reader is important to me. I'm a big fan of An eye Maturin and this really was not up to that level

Well and clearly read

Great series of stories, easy to listen to but still with enough twists to keep you interested. Can’t wait till book 6

I totally loved these books. So sad when they came to an end. I think Steve Hicks must have a delightfully quirky mind . The main character is Felicity Philips, a widow, sounding in her 50s. She is well spoken, butter wouldn't melt. I'm sure she knows the correct thing to do and say in any circumstance which is a good thing as she organises weddings for the rich and famous. She is aided by a few interesting people such as her neice. Mindy, who is a trained 'ninja', carrying nunchucks wherever she goes. Her most useful and entertaining side kicks are her dog Buster, also known as 'Devil Dog' and her cat Amber. As you can imagine, they are the stars of the show. Buster is my favourite, especially when he cries, "Ta da Devil Dog to the rescue!" Unforseen circumstances always leads to some sort of investigation, that Felicity is pretty useless at, always requiring the assistance of her pets. Perhaps an important fact I failed to mention is, she can hear what her animals are saying, you'd be surprised at how many places a pet can go that a human can't. You have got to hear these books if you like a well put together story with some light entertainment. I found myself laughing out loud on occasion. The narrator has mastered the voices brilliantly and contributes to a great set of stories. More pleeeeease.

Brilliant set of stories, loved them.

The narrator not only had a very irritating voice (that could be just my taste of course!) but she just kept mispronouncing words which was really annoying - and they weren’t even complicated words - for example she kept saying the cat was mangy and pronounced it like man (as in a male) and then gy with a hard ‘g’! There were a lot of other simple errors too - some of which changed the meaning.

I really enjoyed the first Steve Higgs series I listened to (the Culinary Capers one) and I quite enjoyed the series on the Patricia Fisher ones on the cruise ship though I was finding the storylines increasingly unbelievable - but this one just seems to be ridiculous! I found the protagonist so annoying and not at all likeable… but the poor narration made it much worse - and whereas the voicing of the dog’s thoughts in Culinary Capers was funny and quite endearing, in this one it just seemed silly and I found the voices used really OTT and annoying. Disappointing because I enjoyed the first series so much.

Awful narration and poor storylines
