Summary
An unforgettable dark romance trilogy!
Two captive dancers. One cruel master. A single performance to determine whether they live or die.
Anya
I've served the four families since I was kidnapped three years ago.
I've accepted my fate, knowing that escape is impossible.
My villainous master abuses me, but I've learned to live this lonely life.
I've become complacent in my misery…then my master brings home another captive for me to train, and his presence changes everything.
Ezra
I was violently taken and brought to kneel at her feet.
She demands that I dance with her, but I refuse to recognize anyone as my master.
Yet when I see the horror of her existence with my own eyes, I know I have to save her.
I could never have expected her to break down my walls…. I could never have expected to form an unbreakable bond.… I could never have expected to fall in love.
This is a dark romance series involving many triggering elements which may be upsetting for some listeners. A complete list of tropes and triggers can be found on the author's website.
This is book 1 of 3 in a complete trilogy.

dance
Amazing dual narration from Elle Sonali and Jeffrey Holz
Anya is a slave to Nikolai Mikhailov the man has held her captive for years. She made to dance for him, but now Nikolai has brought Ezra a partner for her to dance with, in a performance that could either save her or kill her.
The moment Ezra looked into the blue-eyed girl, he feels her pain, her torture, her heart her love. Will the two of them survive.
Brillant dark romance.

Dark Captive Romance - Check TW
Counts of Eight by Brynn Ford is a dark captive romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Elle Sonali and Jeffrey Holz. This is the first book in the The Four Families series.
This is the first book of Brynn's that I have read, and it won't be my last. I was pulled in from the first chapter and couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next. I would highly recommend reading the content warnings before reading this book. I really enjoyed the relationship that is blooming between Anya and Ezra. I liked that we got Anya, Ezra, and Nikolai's points of views. It really brought the story to life.
The book ended on an amazing cliffhanger that left me begging for more. I can't wait for the next book in the series Dance With Death to be released on audio so I can get more of Anya and Ezra's story.
Elle and Jeffrey did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you like dark romances, captive romances, or romantic suspense.

Remarkable Narration in this Unique Story Line
Counts of Eight is a dark, yet extremely intriguing and unique story about Anya, a talent slave for a powerful and ruthless man. He brings her dance partners that she is also the master to, and her job is to get them to obey and submit while also dancing and performing for Nikolai. There is something different about Ezra from the minute he arrives and he and Anya have a connection. Anya struggles in her role as "master" with Ezra, though Ezra quickly learns he will need to submit if he doesn't want Anya to ultimately pay the price.
This story is dark and twisted and not your average romance story. I love finding new authors and stories that are creative and different and this definitely checks off those boxes. I think the author did a great job of helping the reader truly believe in Ezra and Anya's connection and that there was more to their relationship than them just both being prisoners.
I listened to the audiobook of this story and it was truly fantastic. Both Elle Sonali and Jeffrey Holzdid a truly remarkable job but Elle Sonali as Anya was exceptional. The story was very enjoyable to listen to. It does end on a cliffhanger, which I was not aware of, but I am excited to see what is going to happen with these characters in the next book. #PinkFlamingoProductions #TheFlock

Dark and entertaining
This book was a dark listen, but the story flowed so well. The narrators were exactly right and the performances were on point. The dialogue fit the story and bright the story to the end with a dazed and bewildered feeling. Definitely recommend

Suspense and Romance!
Suspense and romance! Nothing is better than that and Brynn Ford takes us on the beginning of a wild ride with the Four Families, Counts of Eight! Anya was taken at a young age, and kept captive. Dance is her outlet, her passion, but her life is far from a happy one. Now a new partner, Ezra, has been brought in, another she must tame and keep under control so the performance of a lifetime can keep the families happy and the two of them alive. Little did she know her feelings would get involved this time. Ezra is determined to find a way out, but how? Talk about chemistry! From the very start these two have it in spades. The constant eye on them though is a huge deterrent. I am on edge, now as the cliffhanger has left me wanting more, leaving these two in a terrible situation. Bring on the next book! I need to keep counting!
Elle Sonali and Jeffrey Holz give a phenomenal performance telling this story.Accents are spot on, the duet is perfectly set up with each character having their own voice. There are a lot of interesting side characters in this story, and these two pulled out the best voices for them. This is a fantastic listen and I cannot wait for more.
