About this listen

Two small children - playing a game called 'Witch-Hunter' - place a curse on a young woman eating lunch in a church courtyard. An hour later the woman is found dead. Then a society photographer is stabbed to death in a nearby park and suddenly a link emerges between the two cases. As the members of the Peculiar Crimes Unit investigate, they realise that the case might not just end in disaster - it might also get everyone killed.

The book was very well read, I could not put it down. The old detectives who should be retired gave it a sort of black comedy, brilliant. I will listen to it again.

A book to listen to again

As usual if I have read something harrowing previously I go for another Bryant and May.
They are consistently witty cleverly written well read and a perfect antidote. Recommend you try this author too.

Guilty pleasure

This is a delightful book full of clever twists and entertaining observations. Both amusing and horrifying. I enjoyed this more than earlier books in the series. The blend of facts, fantasy and psychological insights is remarkable. Well worth a read or a listen! The PCU are the iconoclastic heroes we could do with now!

A cautionary tale that resonates with current politics

Always fun to listen to, narration excellent and engaging. I have more already in my library waiting for my next treat. there are so many interesting facts of old London threaded through the stories, really enlightening and make sense of some of my trips around historical areas such as Fleet Street and the Law courts.

Just love Bryant and May!

The story is complex and interesting, and Tim Goodman brings the characters to life quite brilliantly. Very satisfying listening.

As good as ever

…brilliantly clever, funny, entertaining and, at some points, edge of seat exciting. Long may these old codgers flourish!

What did you like most about Bryant and May and the Invisible Code?

The whole story. Narration is excellent on each one of the Bryant and May books. Tantelising tales thats do not yeild the solution until the very end. Really enjoy the process of how Bryant and May investigae, slowly arriving at the solution. Each story always includes a myriad of obscure histories about London, in some form. Story expertly written.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Bryant and May and the Invisible Code?

the whole book...Its not a film so I can't pick out a single scene. However the endings where the "who done it and why" are always enjoayble as I am always on thwe worng track.

Which character – as performed by Tim Goodman – was your favourite?

Both Bryant and May are great. How he gets them to sound so different is a wonder. Kasabian is a very good charachter too..just the right hint of malice

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Definately. Made traveling on the train to and from work bearable

Any additional comments?

Goon..give ti a go. I dont normally go for "who done it" genre...but this is different. Slight nod to a Sherlock Holmes but so much more

Marvelous Yarn-

I’ve listened to many books in this series and found this one to be quite boring in places. Still, it is just my opinion and they can’t all be gems.

Not the best
