About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Property might be theft. But the housing market is murder.
My name is Al. I live in wealthy people's second homes while their real owners are away.
I don’t rob them, I don’t damage anything… I’m more an unofficial house-sitter than an actual criminal.
Life is good.
Or it was - until last night, when my friends and I broke into the wrong place, on the wrong day, and someone wound up dead.
And now … now we’re in a great deal of trouble.
Featuring crooked houses, dodgy coppers and a lot of lockpicking, A Beginner's Guide to Breaking and Entering is a gripping thriller about what it's like to be young, skilled, unemployed - and on the run.

"Page turner" or sleep timer resetter
A great story excellently composed and well delivered by the narrator. Not sure how there could be a second book in the series but I'd listern to it if there was.

An enjoyable book with an entertaining narrator
At first I was disappointed to realise Andy wasn’t narrating, but having finished I can confirm Phil Dunster was the perfect choice. He made this very fun to listen to.
As for the book itself, it’s a quirky, funny story with more than a little political commentary thrown in, making it a compelling summation of the current state of British politics and housing. The main four characters are a touch derivative, but in my opinion this adds to the charm, and they’re all quite likeable. The plot is clever and winding, and has you pointing the finger at every character before humbling you at the end with twists you don’t see coming.
This was very enjoyable, and I hope to read a sequel in the future.

An enjoyable fast paced story
The title intrigued me and sounds a bit different, and I am glad I listened to this past-paced and light-hearted whodunnit. The narrator, Al, is very likeable and I enjoyed all the twists and turns. Being set in London with trips to the Caribbean and the Cotswolds and tge coast was a good back drop and the narration was very good.

Excellent storytelling!
I loved the way it was written, with the witty asides and the way the story played out was extremely satisfying and interesting! I have long been a fan of the author through No Such Thing As A Fish, and also have been a big fan of Phil who read it, so all in all a total joy! Would happily recommend to anyone, it fits in to many categories to suit many readers/listeners!
