It’s an election year, and candidates Ronald Crump and Ernie Blanders are dominating the headlines. Eleven-year-old Bennet Sable’s never been into politics, or school for that matter; it’s all hockey all of the time. But when his grandmother gets kicked out of her retirement home under suspicious circumstances and moves in with the family, everything starts to change.

The Ring and the Book is a verse novel of sex, lies, and murder, authored by Robert Browning, and it is widely considered to be one of the greatest literary works of the 19th century. It’s a “true crime” story based on the proceedings of a Roman murder trial held in 1698. The Storm formed the basis of Janacek's opera, Katya Kabanova.
