In this World Mental Health Day Audible Sessions Special, nine celebrities discuss their experiences with mental health. We hear what their mental health problems feel like to them; their experiences of speaking to friends, family, professionals and the public; and the things that can help them feel better. In these conversations, we cover topics from social media to suicidal thoughts, and we say that whether you sometimes find it difficult to leave the house; you have anxiety, depression, or OCD; or you need to airplane your phone every now and then to stop it becoming addictive - that’s okay.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about his new book, How to Be a Footballer, is professional football player and striker for Championship club Stoke City Peter Crouch. Capped 42 times by the England national team, scoring 22 goals for his country in that time and appearing in two World Cups, Peter Crouch is a household name in professional football and star of Championship club Stoke City. His new book, How to Be a Footballer, published in 2018.

Miller played the lead role in Death in Paradise before leaving to spend more time with his family. Beyond television, Miller has acted in films such as Johnny English (2003) and its sequel, Molly Moon and the Incredible Book of Hypnotism (2014), and on stage in The Ladykillers (2011) and The Duck House. His directorial debut was the film Huge. We'll be chatting to Ben Miller about his book The Boy Who Made the World Disappear, his partnership with Alexander Armstrong and what he would put into a black hole.

Joining us at the Audible studios is Sir Lenny Henry, actor, writer, presenter and comedian. Henry has spent decades in the British public eye on television, on our radios, big screens and as a stand-up comedian, often touring internationally. He co-founded Comic Relief in 1985 and has taken part in almost every year’s show since then, the charity raising over £1 billion so far! Henry has documented his career in his books, and most recently penned Rising to the Surface, which takes a look at his hectic life during the ‘80s and ‘90s.

David Suchet, veteran actor best-known for his iconic portrayal of Agatha Christie’s Poirot, joins us to discuss the release of his new audio series, David Suchet's Questions of Faith. Exploring the differences which divide and the similarities which unite the three Abrahamic religions, David talks to prominent figures within the Jewish, Christian and Islamic communities, searching for answers to the devastating wars that have been waged against one another. In this exclusive interview, David reflects back on his findings, the many eye-opening conversations he’s had along the way and his hopes for a peaceful future.

Esther Perel talks to us about the making of her podcast series with Audible, what she hopes listeners can gain from the intimate discussions and what she learns from her clients.

Joining us at Audible Studios is James Acaster, one of the UK's finest stand-up comedians, who has his own Netflix special, a podcast with Ed Gamble and a TV show with Josh Widdicombe. Acaster has written and recently released his second book, Perfect Sound Whatever. We spoke to James about his iPod guy, whether or not therapy was useful to him and the sheer joy he gets from recommending music.

Jason Isaacs joins us in the Audible Studios to discuss narrating The Island of Dr Moreau by H. G. Wells. Playing the iconic role of Lucius Malfoy in the Harry Potter films as well as Dr. Hunter Aloysius 'Hap' Percy in The OA and being part of the Star Trek franchise, he is a prolific and renowned actor. In this interview, Jason tells us about narrating The Island of Dr Moreau, what his kids think of this work, and the casting director who thought his hands were more interesting than his acting talent.

Prof Steve Peters visits Audible to discuss his latest book, The Silent Guides, which draws on what we learnt from his best seller The Chimp Paradox. Steve Peters is an English psychiatrist who has worked with the British cycling team and other sports people, as well continuing to work in hospitals and setting up his organisation Chimp Management. In The Silent Guides, listeners will learn about 'neuroscience and psychological aspects of the developing mind, unconscious thinking, behaviours, habit formation and related topics in an easy to understand way'.

Joining us at Audible Studios is Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness, an American hairdresser, television personality and podcaster. Van Ness was born in Quincy, Illinois, and has been openly gay throughout his life. In 2013, Van Ness was dressing the hair of a friend, Erin Gibson, who asked him to recap his webcast, Gay of Thrones, on her show, Funny or Die. From this, his Gay of Thrones series garnered more attention, and in 2018, it was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Short Form Variety Series.

Theroux began his career in America working on Michael Moore's TV Nation, and from this sprang his Weird Weekends (1998-2000) where Theroux spent time on porn sets, with swingers, body builders and white supremacists, to name but a few. Then came the hugely popular series When Louis Met..., in which Theroux spent time with the likes of Max Clifford, Chris Eubank and Jimmy Savile.

Joining us in the Audible Studios to talk about his debut novel, One Enchanted Evening, is ballroom dancer, singer and television presenter Anton Du Beke. Best known as a professional dancer on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing since the show’s conception in 2004, Du Beke has also been a familiar face on British shows such as Hole in the Wall and has now published his debut novel, One Enchanted Evening. Anton Du Beke talks to us about how he created the book, how Strictly has evolved over the years and if everyone really can dance.

In this interview, geneticist Dr Giles Yeo discusses how genes influence our eating habits and tells us about his key areas of research.
