A little far fetched…

I’m glad I persisted as I was initially put off by the narration, however, as the story developed it was clear that the narrator matched the persona of the main character. Although far fetched, the storyline kept me keen to find out ‘whatever is going to happen next!’ Definitely scope for part two, with the unresolved matter of the young person’s story.

Great Story. Struggled With Narrator

Loved this story, kept me interested, however, I struggled with the narrator and he almost made me stop listening but im glad I stuck it out.

So absorbing, absolutely loved it!

Story flowed perfectly and kept me completely engrossed. I found myself thinking about the characters when I couldn’t access the book. This HAS to be made into a Netflix psychological thriller!

Riveting listen

Listened to this constantly. It captured me instantly.
It was quite an abrupt ending but made sense when I realised there is another two books.

Brilliantly narrated

Good story brilliantly narrated. Bit of a sudden ending and quite a few questions left over but I just loved the narrator. Will try another by this author too.

Good

Good storyline that kept me engaged but the end was a bit abrupt and I would have liked a little more backstory to end it

Fantastic Realistic Psychological Thriller!

My first book by Jack Stainton and I am thrilled I found this author. Huge praise to Nicholas Camm the narrator who at first I felt wasn't brilliant, but then the more I listened he was excellent.

This is a very realistic psychological thriller, so believable and could happen in anyone's ordinary day to day life. The story is exceptional from start to finish and this book had me gripped all the way through. We're not hit with so many characters that we lose track of who is who. For psychological thriller lovers, this book is chilling and creepy without ridiculous unbelievable things happening, This is a serious book for serious readers and listeners and not in any way puerile which I find so many psychological thrillers from the big name authors are these days. This book doesn't take the reader for a fool put it that way.

I don't want to give anything away but as a taster ; Matthew's world changes in so many ways with his new job and new love, the strange family members the shabby home, the weird child. A strange and disturbing new life opens up for Matthew which turns into a nightmare.

Footnote. - This is a fantastic audio version of this book and you might, like me, find yourself laughing out loud at the absolutely brilliant narration.
I now intend to listen/read to everything Jack Stainton has written :)

The narrator did not suit this story

I found the narrator too old for the part and so breathy!!! The story was weak and the end just odd.
