About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

We all know the pressure of feeling like we should be grinding 24/7 while simultaneously being told that we should 'just relax' and take care of ourselves, like we somehow have to decide between success and sanity. But in today's complex working world, where every hobby can be a hustle and social media is the lens through which we view not only others but also ourselves, this seemingly impossible choice couldn't be further from our reality.

In Working Hard, Hardly Working, entrepreneur and self-proclaimed 'lazy workaholic' Grace Beverley challenges this unrealistic and unnecessary split and offers a fresh take on how to create your own balance, be more productive and feel fulfilled.

Includes practical advice on:

  • The life-changing art of the to-do table: perfect your productivity method and do more of what you love
  • Making your routine work for you: optimise your habits and reap the benefits
  • Getting into and managing your flow: boost your creativity and enjoy your everyday
  • Engaging in effective self-care: how stepping back will help you move forwards

Insightful, curious and refreshingly honest, Working Hard, Hardly Working will make you reflect on what you want from your life and work - and then help you chart your path to get there.

PLEASE NOTE: When you purchase this title, the accompanying PDF will be available in your Audible Library along with the audio.

currently on my second listen of this audio book by grace, there's a lot of Little bits of useful advice within her book. there were a few kick up the arse sections I really liked. I loved her point, put minimal effect in & get minimal rewards. if you don't put the effort into what your doing you won't reach your full potential. this I've learnt the last few years, it's always great to hear it put in another fresh perspective. thanks for the book Grace, I'll continue listening to it until everything sinks in.

I struggle sometimes with factual audible books where the content is excellent but I can’t get past the annoying voice but this a rare book in that Grace was exceptionally easy to listen to but also her enthusiasm and personality came through. There wasn’t anything ground breaking if you tend to read around productivity but what Grace does is bring lots of concepts together and discuss how she uses them with honesty. An excellent listen and read ( I have both written and audible version) that was thought provoking and helped with self awareness.

I think it’s a very relatable book. A lot of what she said about always feeling like you need to be working and making money as a young person in this day and age was sooo true. I also liked her productivity tips and I’ll try and apply some of it to my real life.

However, I really didn’t care for the profanity. Dropping the ‘f’ bomb multiple times was pretty off putting tbh but that’s just me, I know people who swear will probably feel different.

Good book, don’t like the swearing

I completely relate to Grace’s work ethic & self critical mindset, the pressures of productivity in todays fast paced society is such a relevant yet unspoken topic

Premise is good, intentions are good.
I can’t help but feel like this was copying someone else’s homework- especially as we reached the back of the book where Grace reels off all her recommendations for books, podcasts and Ted talks.

So much waffle at the end explaining her white privilege, it could’ve been condensed into one sentence however, she went on and on about what an amazing start to life she had and it just gave me the ick.

This could easily have been a polish copy of her final university thesis. Meow.

Chapters 1-4 worth it - DNF the rest (for your own good)

This book has really helped me on my self improvement journey. I no longer feel anxious or guilty for taking slower days, or not having every details figured out.

So helpful
