Summary
When Alice Love surfaces from a beautiful dream to find she's been injured in a gym, she knows that something is very wrong – she hates exercise. Alice's first concern is her baby – she's pregnant with her first child, and she's desperate to see her husband, Nick, whom she knows will be worried about her. But Alice isn't pregnant. And Nick isn't worried. Alice is the mother of three children and her hostile husband is in the process of divorcing her. Alice has lost ten years of her life.
In the days that follow, small bubbles of the past rise to the surface, and Alice is forced to confront uncomfortable truths. It turns out forgetting might be the most memorable thing that's ever happened to her.

Excellent
I really enjoyed this audiobook. The concept of memory loss in which one loses 10 years of their life in one fell swoop is probably not unique, but it's not often that you find such an intelligent, entertaining, often humorous and always thought-provoking portrayal of it as you do in this book. The titular protagonist has a lot of questions - not the least of which having to do with her automatic responses - and so do readers/listeners as they join her for the ride. The narration, as with every other book of Liane's that Caroline Lee has narrated, is pitch perfect and suits the story and characters beautiful. An unequivocal 5 stars all round from me.

Liane Moriarty is brilliant.
Liane Moriarty is becoming one of my favourite authors, a brilliant story and as always beautifully read by Caroline Lee.
The combination of the two is a wonderful escape from the day to day rush of life.

Couldn't stop listening
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it dragged a little in the beginning, but I was addicted in no time. Laughed out loud, and even cried a little. Thoroughly enjoyed the characters. I have post-book depression now that it's over!

Something Different
I absolutely loved this book!
Not having read anything by Liane Moriarty before, I bought this on the strength of the reviews.
The narrator was precise with clear distinction between characters. To be honest, I didn't think she'd pull it off but I'm pleased to say that I didn't get confused once.
The topic surprised me because I thought it was about something else. (I'm not one for spoiling it for others)
I've read and listened to countless books and I've not come across this theme done in such a way before.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend 'What Alice Forgot' to bookworms like myself and I now have another authors name added to my ever growing list!!

Really enjoyable and emotional
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would definitely recommend this audiobook. The narrator, Caroline Lee, had a lovely voice that was very easy to listen too and expressive. The story was interesting, and I felt very invested in the lives of the characters.
What did you like best about this story?
The emotional reactions it instilled in me. I felt really choked up and it made me reflect on my own life and to hold onto all of the good things.
Which scene did you most enjoy?
The last scene. I like my happy endings.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did keep wanting to come back to it yes.

Absolutely lovely
I struggled with the format to start with - as an audio book the changes in character were hard to detect, however, it really was good.
I loved how the characters changed over time and her duel persona, sweet younger self vs more sceptical tense current self. For me the change is reversed but I am likewise very different than I was 10 years ago.
The layers to the story were fabulous and I loved the epilogue.

Superior Holiday Listen
Would you consider the audio edition of What Alice Forgot to be better than the print version?
This was a beautifully read book which holds our interest from beginning to end. The narrator Caroline Lee does a good job of distinguishing characters without any annoying affectations. It was easy to listen to.
What other book might you compare What Alice Forgot to, and why?
I have also listened to the Husbands Secret by the same author, Liane Moriarty. The Husbands Secret explores what it's like to find out something devastating about someone you love. What Alice Forgot is the same but different, it explores what it might be like to be presented with your future self. Like the Husbands Secret it is interesting, funny and sad.
What about Caroline Lee’s performance did you like?
A great performance by Caroline Lee, believable characterisations and an easy listen in the best possible way. I didn't want to stop listening and I wanted to race to the end to find out what happens.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The book particularly moved me when Alice is confronted by her current life compared to the way she felt as a younger person. I could easily relate to her confusion about the way her life had turned out.
Any additional comments?
I loved this book and The Husbands Secret and can't wait to read The Hypnotist.
