Watch My Back is the story of one man's search for courage. Depressed, bullied, intimidated by life and indoctrinated to believe that this was his lot, Geoff Thompson, on the verge of a breakdown, decided to fight back. In a bid to confront his fears, he took a job as a bouncer in one of Britain's roughest nightclubs. Over the next 10 years, he was involved in hundreds of brutal and bloody fights that left two of his friends murdered and many more in prison. Geoff reached the top of his trade and became addicted to violence. Then it all changed.

After nearly being killed in a gang attack, and almost killing one of his attackers, he was forced to reassess his relationship with violence. After writing down his experiences, Geoff discovered a flair for writing.

This is the story of an ordinary man who faced his fears and took himself from bedsit to best seller but very nearly got killed on the way. Geoff Thompson is now the author of over 30 books, a stage play and a BAFTA-winning short film. This book is now a major motion picture: Clubbed.

I'd read this story many years ago, looking for something I couldn't name. Now, coming back to it with some of those questions still unanswered, I remembered what appeaked to me. This is a wonderful book. It's a brave and bold story, told in a gripping and entertaining way. There is a lot of wisdom and insight in the collection of stories, but it is also scary in its honesty and forthright transparency about the nature of violence and fear. Loved every moment of it! Highly recommend!!

Geoff Thompson's story about fear and the unlimited opportunity to change is even more exciting in audible format. I can't find a better word than brilliant as Geoff's story was truly elevated by the narration of Simon Trinder. Simon made you feel like you were right there watching things play out in real time. Simon sounded like Geoff himself and gave the story added excitement and brought out the emotional gamet that Geoff experienced through two decades of development. A truly interesting and positive listening experience.

Essential reading for anybody who trains in MA/self defence or works on the door...
realistic, honest, funny, sometimes thought provoking but definitely an eye opener.

I love this book, it is so real, growing up in Coventry and knowing Geoff personally it is amazing to hear his story. What he experienced and what he has achieved is amazing

Full of amazing stories and inspirational lessons. The narration was also brilliant. most of the audiobooks I've listened to have poor narration by monotone and or cringy American narrators. This actually felt as is Geoff himself was telling the stories. 10/10!
