Summary
Vivienne Neas' best-selling series, now bundled into a box set.
Book one
The shade a vampire has left in my family is still hunting me, making my life a restless chase.
It's not only my job; I have a personal vendetta to carry out against vampires. They are the reason my sister is in a wheelchair and our mother is gone. And I'm not a forgiving girl.
Vampires start integrating among humans, but even with laws adapting to the new society, many problems arise. I solve them. I kill problems.
In the span of less than two weeks I manage to turn my entire world upside down.
Book two
I have managed to start a new life as instructor at the Martial Arts Academy in Westham.
No more black leathers, no more silver bullets, only training clothes - or so I thought....
A young woman arrives at the academy. She wants to be taught to kill vampires, and she wants me to teach her. But she doesn't know I'm half vampire; she doesn't know about my past. This would change the peaceful life I just achieved.
Book three
In the middle of the night, I find Joel and my sister at my door: Our friend Carl is in jail in Fort Atkinson, accused of murdering a young vampire girl, and it's me who he wants to help him to get out clean.
I don't mix up with police - you don't if you have a past like mine. But this time, my cop student offers to help me in Carl's investigation, and I desperately need his help.
Book four
Two shadows in a dark alley: They look so alike they could easily be twins. I strain my senses, and I smell vampire. When I'm killing my mark, a deafening scream comes out of its mouth, so I wake up. I've been haunted far too long by this nightmare, and the job at the academy isn't helping me anymore.
There's a vampire with a long list of goons chasing after me, looking to avenge his brother's death.
I know this is no ordinary vampire: He's very powerful. His face has been haunting me every night; this time I'm scared, and I feel in real danger. I have a feeling this will be my time.
So I'm out on the street again, ready to fight, and this time, I'm the only one to blame.

Vampire's Shade Book 1-4
Vampire’s Shade Collection by Vivienne Neas is a box set about a human-Vampire who has a personal vendetta to carry out against Vampires. Vivienne does recaps of previous stories in each book so I feel you could read them as standalone. But I would recommend reading them in order. I did like that each book did not end on a cliffhanger. The first book is the longest and the next three books are novella length. I think books 2-4 could have been better with more details. It feels like there is a big build up, but the story is just wrapped up. I liked that Vivienne ended the series with no lasting questions.
I listened to this book on audio narrated by Evelyn Marcail. Evelyn did a great job narrating. I really enjoyed the different character voices she uses. I look forward to listening to her future projects.

Addictive
The storyline can be addictive, the first book is the longest but you fly through it with all the action involved. There are no cliffhangers between books, so it’s easily stopped there for a listening break. I did enjoy the narrative by Evelyn, she did a great job with bring the story to life for you. And keeping the emotions appropriate to the scene.

Narrators need
decent story I think? put off with the narration. she sounds like a computer. High pitched and whiny with little inflection or modulation in tone, which misses the mark when trying to deliver humour, portray other characters or enjoy the descriptive scenes the author is trying to set. Cannot immerse myself in the story like I do when reading or when listening to a really good narrator.

Good series
This is the whole series, four books, of The Vampire’s Shade series. I enjoyed the series, it kept me interested. Adele was a likeable character as were her friends.
My favourite book was the first, all four books were short in length, with the first being the longest but it did set the series up very well.
The narrator did a fantastic job, she articulated it perfectly.

Really interesting
I have really enjoyed this series the books were well paced and had very interesting characters that captured my attention. This series has been well written and I enjoyed the narration. I think this is an author that I would love to listen to more of their books as this one had an interesting twist on the vampire genre

Great Box Set!
I think it was a good decision for the author to combine these into a box set, the stories almost seamlessly flow together as one and must be read consecutively in order to be understood. Having all 4 shorter stories combined into one makes this a better purchase. There are some things that could have been explained better, for example how Adele fell in love with Connor. One minute she is about to kill him, the next she can't kill him because she is in love with him but there was literally ZERO indication of even an insta-love situation, they had almost no interaction prior to her deciding she loved him. There needed to be a little depth to that situation. There were a good bit of areas that could have been expanded, however, when considering that these were written as short stories I'm willing to overlook that there isn't as much detail in some spots. Overall, I really liked the series (thus far?) as a whole and I enjoyed the author's style. Adele is the only character we really get to know intimately since everything is written from her point of view; she's a pretty cool chick.
The narrator gave an excellent and consistent performance throughout and I really enjoyed listening to her. I thought she was a good fit for Adele's as a character and represented her well. This was my first time listening to her and I'd definitely listen again.
