I really like this hockey series and that's why I was looking forward to this audiobook. This time it's a story of enemies to lovers. Jamie, a hockey player, met Taylor, a figure skater, at the Olympics, but that's when they had a falling out. That's not the only family drama, though, because there's also the drama between their fathers and Jamie's very own family drama with his ex-wife.
I totally liked Taylor and Jamie. Jamie's story is really heartbreaking, but he absolutely lovingly takes care of his five-year-old daughter, Ava, who is totally adorable. Taylor is also very likable and the two meet again when Ava gets training lessons from Taylor.
The two have chemistry from the moment they meet, but they both want to keep it casual. And the two make a cute couple! But how do you act when feelings suddenly come into play?
I liked the story, it was entertaining, has some drama, but mostly without angst. And I was happy to see the characters from the previous volumes again. I enjoyed the scenes on the ice and wish there could have been more.

James Edward Jones gave a solid performance. I especially liked his voice for Ava, as well as the accent he gives to the Candian Gabriel.

Story: Taylor and Jamie were such a great couple! I loved everything about their story and they are definitely among my Brigham's favorites! Taylor's personality and prickly edges made me love him from the get go and he was a perfect match for a slightly flailing Jamie and his newfound attraction. The chemistry was visible from the get go and the story kept me hooked from the start. Loved it!
Narration: Great performance. Elevated the story without overshadowing it in any way.

I love Brigham Vaughan's ability to bring such emotional depth and connection to her characters.
It's what makes them so relatable and realistic.
Jaime and Taylor were perfect for each other.
Both having suffered before making them both leery of relationships.
I really enjoyed seeing them both work through their own issues, both separately and together.
Knowing that they had to work on themselves and at their relationship made it so much better, it was instant attraction between them but they absolutely worked hard for their well deserved HEA.
There was so much chemistry between these two it virtually leapt off the pages.
Ava was just too cute for words.
I can't wait for Lindy and O'Shea's story and I'm so very hopeful we'll get to see Charlie and Dustin's story.
The narrator did an amazing job bringing the characters to life.

Unwritten Rules is the fourth book in the Rules of the Game series, a contemporary hockey romance series. This book can be read easily as a standalone but other characters from previous books make an appearance. I honestly think each book in the series get better and better than the previous and I’m totally in love with the Evanston River Otters hockey team.

Jamie is a single father who is piecing his life back together after a major fallout from his ex-wife. Taylor is a former figure skater who’s retired from competition. When Taylor starts working for the Otters, it’s not the first time his and Jamie’s paths have crossed – there is some tragic family drama between their fathers – but it is the start of something more. I loved the development and build up of their relationship – there was some Romeo/Juliet moments, but unlike those unfortunate lovebirds, Jamie and Taylor actually communicate with each other and work together through the hard points. I thought the story was completely charming and extremely enjoyable.

The audiobook was narrated by James Edward Jones who does a wonderful job with voicing all the characters. I really enjoyed the performance and was glued to my earbuds for two days as I devoured the book.

I really like this hockey series and Jamie and Taylor were such a cute couple. It starts up by being an enemies to lovers story. Their dads had a nasty falling out years ago which has affected their soon. Jamie and Taylor meets at the Olympics four years ago where Jamie sees Taylor skate and gets a crush on him but they end up having a public argument. scroll forward four years and Jamie still have a crush on him and when Taylor comes to work with the hockey team, it gives them a chance to get to know each other. They end up in a friends with benefits arrangement but it quickly becomes clear that they have feelings for each other but they both have issues to work through. I thought it was a great story and I enjoyed the narration.

Taylor is a figure skater who is hired to teach the hockey team skate skills. He is surprised to learn that the son of the hockey player whom injured his hockey player dad, ending his career, is on the team and they will have to work closely together. Taylor also happens to be Jamies daughters junior figure skating teacher, after Jamies ex wife hired him behind Jamies back. The two have to see each other and get along a ton of the time.

This book is my favorite in the series so far. The little girl is absolutely adorable. This story was so sweet with very low angst but lots of side drama. I loved the 2 MCs and seeing how they were a cute little family of 3. Due to Taylor being Avas skate teacher, she was good to keep pulling the 2 men together. They had irresistible chemistry and were so swoony together. I listened to this book in one listen and couldn't stop from start to finish. It was a wonderful story that I would definitely recommend. U can read it as a standalone. Once again the world building was fantastic and the side characters are all wonderful. I'm looking forward to more, especially more Charlie.

The narrator had a pleasant reading voice, he kept a good pace and sounded age appropriate for the main characters. He expressed all the emotions really well and made it an enjoyable listening experience. Unfortunately both of the main characters voices sounded the same to me. I much prefer a narrator that does distict voices for the MCs. He did do viices for the side characters though. Overall, I still very much enjoyed it.

I have been loving this series so far and Unwritten Rules is a great addition. Taylor and Jamie aren't enemies themselves but their father's had a serious issue, and their rivalry has kind of been passed down. However,. Now Taylor is working with the Otter's hockey team, he'll see Jamie all the time and their attraction and chemistry complicates things slightly.
I felt for both men as neither really felt the grudge that their dads have and when they start working together, they obviously don't have bad blood with each other. Jamie has been through so much with his ex wife and ex teammates over the past year but the Otter's players have become like family, helping him through, and his adorable five-year-old daughter, Ava, brings charm and personality to any scene she's in. Whilst Taylor had to leave his career as an Olympic figure skater for his own health whilst looking out for his best friend, Charlie, as well. From the start, their chemistry sparks, no matter how they try to deny it. So instead they give in, just for fun at first but there is no holding back the feelings that build up. It's sweet and loving how they grow to care about each other, as well as Taylor for Ava, but they are always aware of what could go wrong should they choose a future together.
It's a well paced story, though their relationship is quite fast it feels like it grows naturally between them, just quite intense. I love all of the supporting cast. Charlie is a really big personality and the rest of the Otter's team treat Jamie, and soon Taylor, like family. There is, of course, one or two bad apples who I feel very justified in not liking. One especially, I'm hoping gets their comeuppance soon. There are a couple of relationships that are hinted at here that I'm hoping we get to hear more from soon. I love the team and family spirit that the author has created here and I'm really enjoy both the relationship and the hockey aspects.
James Edward Jones continues to provide fantastic for these characters. The initial strain shines through between Taylor and Jamie but their emotions clearly change in their tones and you can't help but fall in love with little Ava all over again.

MM, Bi Awakening, Insta Attraction, Sports Themed, Contemporary, Romance. Another fantastic installment in this fantastic series that can be enjoyed as a stand-alone but when enjoyed as part of the series it allows you more of an understanding of the team dynamics. Thoroughly enjoyed listening to the audiobook and love how the characters have been brought to life. Guaranteed HEA.

Taylor and Jamie might have never been able to make their relationship work if they'd been younger. It takes some seasoning to stand up to two families and go with your heart and head. These two have that and watching them build their own family with Jamie's daughter made for a lovely story. James Edward Jones did a great job with these two mature characters. We feel the stresses on them, but also their determination to be together.

I have really been enjoying this series, so much that after receiving a free copy of book one, Road Rules, and then a free copy of book four, Unwritten Rules, I purchased books two and three to listen to before listening to Unwritten Rules.

I loved Taylor and Jamie together. Taylor stood his ground with Jamie and wouldn’t consider a serious relationship until he knew that Jamie wasn’t ashamed of him and wouldn’t want to keep their relationship a secret indefinitely. Jamie wanted to be there for his daughter and Taylor but it took him a bit of time to figure everything out.

This is another great book with a satisfying HEA. There were some really good secondary characters in this book that I’d love to read more about. Taylor’s best friend Charlie really needs his own book 😊.
