Summary
Would you live a lie to hold onto the one you love?
Dean and Jason are best friends, like brothers since boyhood, now architecture students and college roommates. They've always had each other's back, but when one walks in on the other with another man, everything changes. How do you explain to your best friend that he's the one you've always wanted, that until now your life has been a lie?
Desperation and shame are two dirty words that run through Jason's veins. He carries the scars from a wayward priest who stole his innocence and left him shattered. Meanwhile for years he's watched Dean pursuing woman after woman, as his own heart slowly breaks.
When their world blows apart, they learn the powerful bond between them has more fire than either understood. Can two broken souls find the light in their darkness and come together to make a whole, or will sins of the past be forever unforgiven?

Absolutely beautiful
I loved this book. It was perfectly narrated. The characters are superb and the HEA is perfection.
Some reviewers got hung up on the SA but it’s a fact that Priests have SA children so the topic can’t always be avoided. The SA scenes are a small part of the book but necessary because that awful situation explains so much of Jason & Dean’s journey. Please don’t let it put you off this superbly well written story.

A more conservative perspective within the Queer romance genre.
The one character is going through some big things. Which could do with some trigger warnings....
The other is framed as the 'libral' and 'acepting' character but is full of internalised homophobia.... same with his family who only seem 'not homophobic' when compared to the first characters Mum.
Not a fun optimistic read, but does attempt to tackle some big issues... The epilogue does quite a lot of the work of character development.
Didn't feel like it was written by a young queer voice, at least not one from the late 2010s...
