An instant
Sunday Times bestseller and soon to be a major motion picture!

Women can be heroes, too’. When twenty-year-old nursing student, Frances “Frankie” McGrath, hears these unexpected words, it is a revelation. Raised on California’s idyllic Coronado Island and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing, being a good girl. But in 1965 the world is changing, and she suddenly imagines a different path for her life. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she impulsively joins the Army Nurses Corps and follows his path.

As green and inexperienced as the young men sent to Vietnam to fight, Frankie is overwhelmed by the chaos and destruction of war, as well as the unexpected trauma of coming home to a changed America. Frankie will also discover the true value of female friendship and the heartbreak that love can cause.

The Women was a Sunday Times bestseller from 17.2.24-13.4.24

Brilliant

Another great book from Kristin Hannah. Loved it from the very beginning. I knew very little about the Vietnam war so feel both educated and entertained!

Its not a gooey as you’ll think it will be!!

Romance, motherhood, marriage - despite the Vietnam War background I thought this was leaning towards a soppy novel which I loathe HOWEVER I was totally wrong. It twists, turns and demonstrates the demons of war, as well as love and loss. Pretty much unputdownable!

Another great Kristin Hannah book

What a wonderful book! Very different to what I would normally read, but gave me an insight into the Vietnamese War and the fact that women served in it too. I was born in 65, but was aware of it going on at an early age, but being in England, I didn’t know too much about it, nor did I remember it until now.
So glad I read (or listened to) this book and will continue ti listen to Kristin Hannah books too!

This book is absolutely riveting. From beginning to end it is an amazing insight into the war in Vietnam and the impact it had on veterans. A wonderfully researched and beautiful written story .

A dreadful war like all wars, So glad recognition came in the end, even if more than a decade later.

Intense and so moving. Well balanced with historical facts and heartbreaking reenactment of relationships. it is a novel but felt so so real.
