Summary

A lone DeathEater has forsaken his clan. Leaving behind his previous life, Skharr starts building a future next to a dangerous forest in an unknown land. He tells himself it is better than taking gold for questionable reasons.

A lone old man travelling with a donkey offers him a choice: Continue this farm life, or trade him Skharr's just finished home and tilled land for a map.

A map that Skharr can use to live large for years...if he survives.

The old peddler watches him.

Realizing the intelligence, the polished actions of the huge man is but an act. A carefully orchestrated semblance of civility, and shudders.

Of all the Barbarian hordes, the rumor was to never ever upset a DeathEater.

And he had come here to unleash this particular DeathEater back into the world.

Good Listen

This is a great if non-brain testing book.
I was very impressed with the quality of the writing and the way the dialogue was handled by the narrator. The Death Eater was a great twist on the sword and sorcery genre. The pain in a fight is normally felt after unless it is major injuries. For example professional rugby players will ignore broken bones and keep playing, the death eater would not be bothered by slight injuries during a fight. Just a thought from one who felt something was funny when the pain was not there.

Just brilliant

The start of a most enjoyable series. A barbarian with skills, hidden depth and wit. There is some great humour too.

The narrator is very good.

If you want to escape to a world of gods, barbarians and adventure with plenty of loot this is the book for you.

I love this series its a favourite.
