Summary

A massive earthquake hits Eastern Turkey, the ancient area of Mesopotamia, unveiling hidden secrets and opening an epic battle between good and evil.

Dr. Nicklaus Hart has lost his moral compass. As an orthopedic surgeon in a busy trauma practice, the cares of the world overshadow what Nick knows is true about himself. With his life unraveling, he falls into his old patterns of stress relief but knows they are a poisonous cure. Nick is shaken from his moral slumber when a massive earthquake strikes Eastern Turkey, and he makes the snap decision to respond. Thrown into the chaos and devastation, Nick must face his internal struggle head-on.

When he cares for a man and woman from Russia, Nick is cast into a mystery as old as time. He learns the Russians are searching for the original Tree of Life. Intrigued, Nick and his friends accompany the agents to a town in Southeastern Turkey - a region where ISIS has infiltrated and is positioning to reestablish the caliphate.

The team falls into the hands of the terrorist cell. Threatened with his life, Nick must choose between his life and his faith, and he discovers the true meaning of the Tree of Life.

Were in this together

Wow! I am so glad I discovered this author because Timothy Browne certainly knows how to grab your attention and it doesn't let up until the last word. I love the mix of the medical drama with the terrorism angle and even the questioning of faith works well in the plot. This is book two in the series and continues a few months after book one takes place, this doesn't mean you have to listen to the first book first, it is a stand alone but I recommend that you do just because I couldn't put that book down either. The story is so well written that you get the sense that even if the author hasn't been thorough the adventure himself, he has certainly been to the places he is writing about, either that or he has watched a lot of tv like M.A.S.H. It definitely covers a lot of categories because so much is packed into the story (most of it jail biting). The story is told by several of the characters and does jump around but you won't be disappointed as it all comes together nicely. I hope there are more books in the series to come.
After another stressful night in the accident and emergency unit of a busy hospital the last thing Nick wants to do is get on a plane and head to Eastern Turkey when an earthquake hits. Joined by his intern who is from the area the pair set off to help the survivors and hopefully find some missing parent's. Neither of them are prepared for the devastation or the conditions they must face. Battling to save lives they have no time to search for any parents but they still manage to make new friends. Two of the new friends are Russian agent's sent to find out why people seem to live longer in the area. Is it connected to the free of life? With the country focused on the aftermath of the earthquake terrorist make a play for a land glad. Can Nick and his friends survive an encounter with the Terrorist and find what each of them needs the most?
I like the narrator and think he does a really good job of bringing the characters to life by using a good and varied range of voices.
