About this listen

What if your worst enemy was your only hope?

When a 15-year-old girl fails to make it home after school, DI Heather Filson believes she’s dealing with just another teenage runaway.

The girl’s grandfather, a notorious Glasgow gangster, disagrees. Convinced one of his underworld enemies has grabbed her, he’s prepared to bathe the city in blood in order to bring his princess home.

But as the days pass and the evidence mounts, Heather starts to fear that they’re both wrong and that a brutal killer from the past has returned.

A killer who once stalked the streets of her hometown, preying on vulnerable young victims.

A killer that DI Heather Filson is uniquely familiar with....

Absolutely fantastic and love how all the characters from the other series all come together and have their own back stories. Fascinated to know if the author always planned these timelines - amazing

Really enjoyed it. Brilliantly disguised ‘bad guy’ protagonist with a lovely twist at the end. Well paced with a fantastic narration by Catherine McCarron who judges the various voices and inclination perfectly.
I would absolutely recommend.

The prolific JD Kirk is actually raising his story telling.

Another cracker of a story- with twists and turns as you can always expect.
Nice to hear the names and get cameos of our old friends Jack and shonagh, makes it feels like the family together.

I am a big fan of the Logan and Hoon books, so this did not disappoint.
I liked how it was different from the Logan/Hoon books, as although the humour was there, the storyline brought out so many emotions. It was well written. I really hope this is the start of getting to know Heather more. JD Kirk is excellent as always.

Gripping story

Dark subjects, dark humour - but one that’ll keep you hanging on every chapter. Definitely worth adding to your library
