About this listen
The ninth Logan McRae thriller from the No. 1 bestseller Stuart MacBride.
‘Dark and griping. A riveting page-turner’ Independent on Sunday
One mistake can cost you everything…
A little girl’s body washes up just outside the sleepy coastal town of Macduff, kicking off a major manhunt. Officially, the investigation is out of Sergeant Logan McRae’s hands, but DCI Steel’s Major Investigation Team, drafted in from Aberdeen, is getting nowhere fast.
Steel is running out of ideas and time. She wants Logan back on her team, and doesn’t care how she gets him there.
One thing is clear: there are dangerous predators lurking in the wilds of Aberdeenshire, and not everyone’s getting out of this alive…

What made the experience of listening to The Missing and the Dead (Logan McRae, Book 9) the most enjoyable?
The characters are rounded & well written. The main plot was exciting and the 'background' plot was even more so. I've read or listen to all of this series and have really enjoyed listening to the characters develop over the years. What other book might you compare The Missing and the Dead (Logan McRae, Book 9) to, and why?
I would compare this to Val McDermid as I love her writing and, like Val McDermid, this author gives a feeling of how people really are; he writes humour within tragic events without undermining the awfulness of the situation. What about Steve Worsley’s performance did you like?
I like that I am almost unaware of it. There is nothing jarring or annoying that takes you out of the book. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The times when Logan visits his girlfriend in a coma were hard; I imagine anyone who has been in that situation will be taken back to the bedside, as I was.Another Cracking Good Book

Detective. Novel

The mix of horror and tragedy the cases being investigated offset by the humor and day to day life situations.
The call signs became a bit repetitive .
Rivalry mistakes and the not always perfect police made it an enjoyable listen. A bit let down by the pool episode at the end.
Very enjoyable ,
