About this listen

The very first Logan McRae novel in the No.1 bestselling crime series from Stuart MacBride.

DS Logan McRae and the police in Aberdeen hunt a child killer who stalks the frozen streets.

Winter in Aberdeen: murder, mayhem and terrible weather…

It’s DS Logan McRae’s first day back on the job after a year off on the sick, and it couldn’t get much worse. Three-year-old David Reid’s body is discovered in a ditch: strangled, mutilated and a long time dead. And he’s only the first. There’s a serial killer stalking the Granite City and the local media are baying for blood.

Soon the dead are piling up in the morgue almost as fast as the snow on the streets, and Logan knows time is running out. More children are going missing. More are going to die. And if Logan isn’t careful, he could end up joining them.

Was looking for something after listening to all Peter May, Denzil Mayrick novels. This was the first one out of a number that got me hooked straight away. I was initially hesitant given the subject matter but thankfully the majority of the story concentrates on after the murders not describing the actual murders in real time. The narrator was also very good. Will be reading/listening to more

Really well written Scottish Detective yarn

did not enjoy narrator's voice the story was brilliant but just did not enjoy his accent I felt it would have been better with Scottish voice otherwise I would have given it a 5 star.

Good story poor narrator

I will not normally read/listen to crime fiction due to its proximity to my day job, but Stuart MacBride's use of descriptive language and narrative skill has led me to make an exception. I am delighted I did.

Excellent and gripping

could feel the atmosphere, absorb the smells and be with the detectives every moment. beautiful description which invests you in the subjects , love them or loathe them and without going over the top on sensitive topics
