Summary
Flowers, fire and fairy tales are the elements that will forever shape nine-year-old Alice Hart's life, in The Lost Flower's of Alice Hart, the international bestseller by Holly Ringland.
Alice Hart lives in isolation by the sea, where her mother’s enchanting flowers and their hidden messages shelter her from the dark moods of her father. When tragedy changes her life irrevocably, nine-year-old Alice goes to live with the grandmother she never knew existed, on a native flower farm that gives refuge to women who, like Alice, are lost or broken. In the Victorian tradition, every flower has a meaning and, as she settles into her new life, Alice uses this language of flowers to say the things that are too hard to speak.
As she grows older, though, family secrecy, a devastating betrayal and a man who’s not all he seems, combine to make Alice realise there are some stories that flowers alone cannot tell. If she is to have the freedom she craves, she must find the courage to possess the most powerful story she knows: her own.

Loved it!
Wonderful storytelling, setting description and detailed character development. The audible narration by Louise Crawford was great too. I was really invested in the characters and didn’t want it to end; I’m desperately trying to find a new book to read that will engage me as much now!

A perfect hope-kindling fairy tale.
I can't describe how much this story means to me. It paves the way for other generational cursebreakers. And gives voice to so many!
It's a beautiful masterpiece written by an incredible woman. Read it!!!!

Beautifully crafted tale
Much better than the miniseries reflects, as the film makers have littered this beautiful story with unnecessary profanities. 🙄 Alice Hart is a thoughtful tale rich in cultural insights that i would happily recommend. Reader did well with the many accents and vocals inflection.

Great emotional investment
Certainly made the list for my personal 'Book Club' and I've recommended it on. Well written and great narration plus it's always a good sign when I physically gasp or say out loud 'Oh no' at a dramatic development. there really were some very powerful moments.
I dropped from 5 to 4 stars because I felt like it really began to explore one particular difficult topic but then seemed to 'lose its nerve' and shy away. Felt akin to telling a drunk driver what a terrible thing they were doing, them having a bit of an epiphany, only for you to say 'Nah, it's probably fine'. That said, I did recommended this to Book Club because I still thought it an excellent read.

Masterclass of audio performace
Very enjoyable listen. The reader did an amazing job of bringing every character to life vividly woth her use of voices. I really liked and appreciated that the reader is Australian, as the book is Australian. It helped immerse me in the world of the characters. A sensitive and dramatic tale.

The most boring book ever
I'm speechless! I jumped from one chapter to another in a blink of an eye being bored to tears by the narrative: why does the author have to describe in such details everything, split the hairs just to fill up pages? Oh, the horror...
