About this listen
A silver pyramid in space 10,000 years old....
The secrets of the mysterious New Men....
A war like no other....
Starship Victory - Earth's ancient, alien spacecraft - has won a smashing victory against the New Men, driving them from "C" Quadrant. On their way home, Captain Maddox and his crew run into a vast machine trapped inside an ion storm. Maddox doesn't know it yet, but the meeting isn't an accident. There's a traitor aboard ship, implementing a secret plan, threatening to destroy everything Star Watch has achieved against the New Men.
Now begins a deadly race as Captain Maddox, the crew, and Galyan are pitted against the masters of a centuries-old conspiracy. Human existence lies in the balance.
The Lost Destroyer is the third book in the Lost Starship series.
©2015 Vaughn Heppner (P)2015 Vaughn HeppnerThe narrative picks up after the victory against the New Men, with Captain Maddox and his crew encountering a mysterious machine within an ion storm. Unbeknownst to them, a traitor lurks among them, threatening the hard-won progress made against the New Men. As the story unfolds, a web of conspiracy spanning centuries is revealed, thrusting Maddox, his crew, and allies into a race against time to save humanity.
One of the standout features of "The Lost Destroyer" is the author's ability to balance engaging characters with intricate science fiction concepts. While the plot is driven by epic battles and high-stakes situations, the characters' personalities and interactions add depth and relatability to the story. This balance creates an immersive experience that resonates with readers.
Moreover, the comparison to Star Wars is not unwarranted. Heppner's series presents a rich and expansive universe that lends itself well to both cinematic action and intricate storytelling. The thematic depth and interconnected conspiracies could easily translate into a visual medium, inviting readers to envision this universe on the big screen.
The narration also deserves recognition for bringing the characters to life. A skilled narrator enhances the overall experience by infusing the characters with distinct voices and personalities, making the audiobook version an engaging way to experience the story.
In conclusion, "The Lost Destroyer" is a must-read for fans of science fiction who appreciate a balance of engaging characters and intricate world-building. With its captivating narrative, epic battles, and a touch of mystery, this installment continues to deliver the excitement that fans have come to expect from the Lost Starship series. As the characters navigate treacherous waters and uncover layers of conspiracy, readers are treated to a thrilling adventure that leaves them eagerly anticipating the next installment.

Would you try another book written by Vaughn Heppner or narrated by Mark Boyett?
Yes, I will certainly go through this series of books, though not a match for Bobverse or Expeditionary force series.Would you recommend The Lost Destroyer to your friends? Why or why not?
Yes, but not the best character depth. With this book and the next one too, situations seem to have come out of nowhere.
A huge death ship not referenced to before and so quickly brought into play, I felt I had missed a book or a few chapters.
What about Mark Boyett’s performance did you like?
Well narrated, if a bit flat, must avoid doing Scottish accents, as it then becomes all rather corny.Did The Lost Destroyer inspire you to do anything?
Continue with this series until more expeditionary books are written :-)Good, if a bit out of nowhere
