About this listen

A luxury resort. Three missing women. One body.

When young London professional Alex Evans is informed that his sister's body has been pulled from an icy lake in Northern Lapland, he assumes his irresponsible sister accidentally drowned. He travels to the wealthy winter resort where Vicky worked as a tour guide and meets Agatha Koskinen, the detective in charge. Agatha is a no-nonsense single mother of three who already thinks there's more to Vicky's case than meets the eye.

As the two form an unlikely alliance, Alex also begins to suspect the small town where his sister lived and died is harbouring secrets. It's not long before he learns that three other women have gone missing from the area in the past and that his sister may have left him a message.

On the surface, Koppe, Lapland is a winter wonderland. But in this remote, frozen place, death seems only ever a heartbeat away.

I was really looking forward to this book. All her other titles are superb but sadly I found this one a little slow. Will try another in the future.

Not her best!

This book is not as good as Jo Spain’s other books, it was too drawn out.

Fair

As always a total page turner, believable characters and gripping story. Just wish Jo Spain could produce hundreds of books a year- I’d listen to them all.

Love love love Jo Spain

The story starts with too many character names, I had to rewind and listen again while noting the characters down. Overall enjoyable story but focus more on the characters than on the mystery. It makes you want to visit Finland. The only thing that particularly annoyed me was the useless love story that doesn't bring anything to the story. Why must every woman main character have a cheesy romance story? This is not a romance book so it felt out of place and made me roll my eyes. That spoils a bit the story in my opinion.

Enjoyable story but not extraordinary

Seemed slower to start as the cast of characters were assembled. However, with the wait.

Excellent as ever

This was hard work, cheesy, and my least favourite of all Jo Spain’s novels, which I normally love. I pretty much forced myself to finish it, hoping it would surprise me with a strong ending. It didn’t. The ending was weak, cheesy and disappointing. I was really looking forward to this book. ☹️

My least favourite Jo Spain novel

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The narrator does a fab job and the book definitely had me guessing throughout. I enjoyed the change of scenery from small neighbourhoods and little villages. The writer clearly has a lot of location knowledge and there's a good humour to the book too. Definitely recommend!

Change of scenery and great!

Just a bit “meh”. Left me feeling a bit disappointed as I have loved Jo Spain’s other books.

Not as good as I wanted it to be
