Incredible account of our history. Presents itself as an unbiased well researched, well grounded and neutral recollection of one of the worst periods in modern human history.

Any book about Hitler has to be careful not to become a brief history of WW2 and for me there was not enough of an attempt to understand Hitler. An example would be the statement in the final chapter about how Germany would have been better off without Italy in the war, but what was it about Hitler which bound him to support and indulge Mussolini?
I would recommend this book. It is more accessible and an easier read than Ian Kershaw’s Hitler.
The performance of the reader is great but there are a couple of small gaps from poor production, but this did not distract from the book.

I enjoyed the voice of Paul McCann reading this account of the 1930s to the end of the Second World War in Europe. There was so much I hadn’t realised about how Hitler had risen to such power, and the manipulation of the people around him and the people of Germany. A piece of history that needs to be told again and again. The wholesale slaughter of the Jewish people due to one man building such hatred in the minds of a country’s population. A well researched piece of history that is relevant today and for the future.

One of the best books on the Hitler years I’ve come across. Well narrated and just enough detail. Not over-academic and so not bogged down with troop movements on the Eastern front that some books are guilty of. Very enjoyable and informative.

I thoroughly enjoyed this incredible chronology of Hitlers/Nazisms ascendency and eventual decline.

The book provides amazing insight on the decisions that lead to significant events of WW2 and profiles the people who made them.

A must read for all fans of history.

I really enjoyed this audible title, read well by Paul McGann. It is very long but I can dip in and out of these audibles when I want to. Overall interesting and very deep insight to the Hitler war years

Although not on the scale of William S Shirer's epic, this book covers the most relevant information of Adolf Hitler and his cohorts.

The writer has covered in great detail the most disgusting areas of the period 1933 1945, and shown the great reluctance of Britain and France to stop this madman in the earliest days of his "Career". It also explained why Germans' felt no guilt in supporting him as 95% plus thought him a great man, as can also be seen on documentaries ever so frequently shown on TV.

The narrator has a steady pace of reading manner, which allows the listener to absorb the narratives. Great piece of work and absolutely absorbing
