About this listen

I might be a grandmother. But I’m not some sweet, harmless old lady who people can push around.

Two little girls stand with their heads bowed in my living room. I’m told they’re my granddaughters. Daisy is nine, and Alice seven. Daisy is the spitting image of her mother. This is the first time I’ve met them since my daughter and I fell out after she married that waste of space, Vince.

They’ve come to live with me because their mother — my daughter — was murdered. In her own home while they slept close by.

I think Vince killed her. But the police can’t prove it. I’ve always known he was no good. He treated my daughter like dirt. I said he’d cheat on her — but she wouldn’t listen.

Now he wants his daughters back.

Over my dead body.

I finally have a family of my own. And nobody is going to take it away from me.

Very entertaining

Lots of twists to this story and I laughed out loud more than once. The ending was a little silly but I'll forgive that as everything else was so good

Poor narration and mispronunciation

Totally unbelievable storyline , thank goodness it was a free book. Irritating accents and as a 70 something woman I found Yvonne’s’ portrayal rather insulting!! She sounded about 90!!

Twists and turns all the way

Loved the character building, great plot and constant twists. Binge listened as whole tale gripped from first chapter to last

Creepy and horrifying; society at the margins

Not one likeable character yet the reader is drawn in but each succeeding horror. Duplicity, lies, murder. Keep your ears open. The end has a lovely little twist that I never saw coming.

A good read

An interesting storyline and I was keen to know what happened next but I found 2 things really disappointing: the grandmother character was 65 yet from the description and her attitude and mannerisms appeared to be over 80; the father’s foul language was unnecessary.

really good just wish the ending was better

it was brilliant shocks I didn't see coming and the ending wasn't bad if there were to be a sequel but I don't get the feeling there will be. It just left me with unanswered questions. I wish there would have been a longer ending that wrapped it up better.

Enjoyable kitchen sink thriller

All the characters are horrible and the plot is totally out there. Really enjoyed it!
