Summary

Renowned author Delphine Larue needs a haven. A crazed fan has gone over the deep end, and she’s not safe. Her security team has suggested a house by a lake. Secluded. Private. Far away. In a beautiful area of the Northwest close to the sleepy town of Misted Pines. It’s perfect. So perfect, Delphine has just moved in, and she’s thinking she’ll stay there forever.

Until she sees the girl in the mist.

After that, everything changes.

Delphine quickly learns that Misted Pines isn’t so sleepy. A little girl has gone missing, and the town is in the grips of terror and tragedy. The local sheriff isn’t up for the job. The citizens are up in arms. And as the case unfolds, the seedy underbelly of a quiet community is exposed, layer by layer.

But most importantly, girls are dying.

There seems to be only one man they trust to find out what’s happening.

The mysterious Cade Bohannan.

About the Creator

Kristen Ashley is the New York Times bestselling author of over 80 romance novels. She’s a hybrid author, publishing titles both independently and traditionally. Her books have been translated into 14 languages and she’s sold millions of books. In March, she released The Girl in The Woods, the second in her romantic thriller series Misted Pines. Her latest audiobook is Perfect Together, a second-chance romance that will break your heart and then put it back together stronger than before. She also published Too Good To be True, her first-ever murder mystery romance in an episodic format on Kindle Vella. Kristen, born in Gary and raised in Brownsburg, Indiana, was a fourth-generation graduate of Purdue University. Since, she has lived in Denver the West Country of England, and she now resides in Phoenix. She worked as a charity executive for 18 years prior to beginning her independent publishing career. She now writes full-time. Although romance is her genre, the prevailing themes running through all of Kristen’s novels are friendship, family, and a strong sisterhood. To this end, and as a way to thank her readers for their support, Kristen has created the Rock Chick Nation, a series of programs designed to give back to her readers and promote a strong female community. this book keeps you interested right up to the end

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I enjoyed the characters, the plot twists, and the soothing voice of the reader. I have read other Kristen Ashley books but I think honestly that this is the best so far.

What a great storyline

I'm almost upset I finished this book, I would have been happy to listen for days, instead of the 24 hours it took me. Kristen Ashley is a wonderful writer, and brings all the characters to life, which I loved getting to know. Brilliantly narrated

I loved it!

It’s a great mystery suspense that’s filled with danger, family love, and romance. I loved the older characters and the exciting storyline that was brought to life by terrific narration. It’s my first Kristen Ashley read but it won’t be the last.

Fabulous book

Wow what a super charged suspenseful story! Amazing cast of characters. I cannot wait to see everyone we’ve just met get their own story. Getting to hear about past favourites too just made my day. This book had me in edge all the way thro but in the best way. Fabulous narration as always. Cannot wait for the next book now

A good story, well told.

This was a surprisingly good book to listen to. The main characters are in their 50s for a start but are like real people in their 50s bright, experienced, and still sexually attractive and active. They have families and lives and I enjoyed this.
The murders and the stalking are all well integrated into the story. The peripheral characters that we meet are well defined and overall this is a well put together book.
There are a couple of things I found grated- if sheriff Dern was such a pompous incompetent how did he keep getting elected? The women (outside the main families) all seemed lacking in some way- which was a little irritating, even though they were often pivotal.
However the book had me hooked, The narrator was good and the character definition was very good.
I will look for more from this author.

Outstanding. I’m in love 😍

This is Kristen Ashley at her best. An amazing, emotional, truly thrilling read.

Someone made a ridiculous comment that the characters were ‘old’!! 53 old seriously?Stand aside honey and let the grownups read 😜.

I know I will listen to again to see how the puzzle pieces fit.
The narration is perfect. Not heard Hillary Huber before but I will look out for her after this.
But it you won’t regret it.

Definitely my favourite. Less raunchy than some of her others which I preferred. Great story
