About this listen

It’s everything she’s ever wanted...

When I first set eyes on Westhill House with its breathtaking views of the sea, I knew Jack and I could make this our forever home.

It may be falling apart with an overgrown garden, but with some tender loving care, we can repair this beautiful building and perhaps our relationship, too...

But the more time I spend renovating our new house, the more time Jack is spending at work.

At least Lori is here to keep me company.

She has her own troubles, yet she always listens to mine.

She’s helping to restore the house, uncovering its secrets one by one.

Like the children’s drawings under the wallpaper in the back bedroom.

The hidden papers underneath the floorboards in the turret room.

And the fact that Westhill House is a place women used to go to feel safe....

Lori seems to know a lot about Westhill House.

The question is, why?

A gripping, spine-chilling listen brimming with secrets and lies. If you loved The Girl on the Train, The Wife Between Us, or The Woman in the Window then this dark, twisting psychological thriller from Amazon chart best seller Jess Ryder is guaranteed to have you gripped.

a different story to the usual thriller, I enjoyed the women's refuge part of the story.

It was a great story but the narrators lack of emotion for a story that should have been highly charged made me almost give up a few times. I disliked many of the characters through this and it was not the authors fault. If I hadn't looked up the reviews of the book itself I would have given up. worth a listen if you can spin a little imagination to get over the narrator.

Sadly narrators lack of emotion left me cold.

Could have been so much better; but what ruins it from the 1st chapter is the pathetic and unbelievable main character. So the story can not really improve as she is just a bystander throughout. Rest of it is not much better.

Weak storyline

is all females idiots? its rude. So many female protagonists are dumb and has got no common sense. If a man was displaying similar traits in a book people would say jeez that is farfetched..write stories w believable strong females

far fetched and another dumb female protagonist

As I did not want to waste a credit, I forced myself to listen until the end, in the hope it got better.
I am no feminist but the main characters in this book were so frustrating, to the point I kept shouting out aloud. I had to vent my frustration somehow!
Although the book touches on an important subject matter, it is badly written and weak.
My first and hopefully last negative review.
