Summary

When your Monday morning begins with a dead dog and ends with a dead boss, you know it's going to be one of those days. And breakfast TV reporter Cora Baxter has already had the weekend from hell, where the man she'd planned a fabulous future with unceremoniously dumped her.

Now Cora's much-hated boss has been murdered. The list of suspects isn't exactly short, but as the enquiry continues, the trail leads frighteningly close to home. Why is Cora's rival - glamorous, bitchy newsreader Alice Lomas - so devastated by their boss' death? What dark secrets are Cora's camera crew hiding? And why has her now ex-boyfriend vanished?

The race to stop the killer striking again is on....

Jackie Kabler worked as a newspaper reporter and then in television news for 20 years, including nearly a decade on GMTV. She later appeared on BBC and ITV news, presented a property show for Sky, hosted sports shows on Setanta Sports News and worked as a media trainer for the armed forces. She is now a presenter on shopping channel QVC. Jackie lives in Gloucestershire with her husband, who is a GP.

Enjoyable

An enjoyable story, Zara Ramm’s narration makes for a great listen. The story is easy to follow and great for a lazy summers day.

Great relaxing read

My first Cora Baxter book. Loved it. Engaging characters, which ensures I shall return to the story again. The plot is interesting even though I guessed the villain's identity. That did not spoil the ending at all though. Narration is superb. In fact Zara Ramm was a major reason for my choice of the book.

Cozy mystery with a touch of romance

Full of humour with a strong cast of characters. Very enjoyable combination of murder mystery and romance.

Bought this because of the narrator

I bought this because I love listening to Zara Ramm, who once again did a fabulous job bringing the characters to life. Characters that were already well written and recognisable, albeit some of them acted in barely believable ways to fit the story. I thought the middle of the book dragged a bit with nothing much happening but the plot delivered a few little twists at the end. I will definitely listen to another book by this author. On the whole very enjoyable.

Not Such a Dead Dog

I really enjoyed this book - well-rounded characters, interesting plot, and a great narrator. This story kept me guessing and definitely kept my interest. Highly recommended.
