loved it excellent world building an easy going book to spend a few hours with.

Loved it, easy to listen to as all in first person and follows one main character. Post apocalyptic but a small story about a single person's place in the world, set in west yorkshire of all places, loved hearing the local place names. Going to go and get book 2 straight away.
Narrators voice sounded a bit dull at first but he is perfect for the story and has great range when performing other characters the lead interacts with.
Have already recommended this to multiple friends who like a lo fi sci fi, post apoc type story. Have read lots of mike carey's comics but this is first of his novels, will check out more.

I’ve just finished listening to the trilogy for the 2nd time. I loved these books so much. The world M R Carey has created is amazing and the performances from the narrators is brilliant!

Really gripping start then a bit of a lull before the story picked right up again ... echoes of some of my favourite ever books, e.g., The Book of Dave (Will Self), The Second Sleep (Robert Harris), The Talisman (King & Straub), The Chrysalids (John Wyndham) - no wonder I liked this book so much ...
Absolutely brilliant narrator (at 1.25 speed), hope he reads the next instalments and other audiobooks, this couldn't have been an easy book to narrate ...
Only a couple of things niggle: the source of the cloves and the dimensions of everything hand-held ... can't say more due to spoilers ...
Oh, and a big welcome to Miss Justineau Mark 2???
