Interesting follow up from book 1, picks up hundreds of years in the future and explores a world where the journals of the unnamed midwife have become lore and legend. Follows Eddie/Etta a character struggling to find themselves and their place in this future world.

a book about identity, searching and belonging

Disappointed.
It's not a patch on the first book, if you ask me. Shame, because it began it so strong as well. I was really looking forward to it.
The story just kind of plodded along, and I didn't really gel with the characters.
I mean, it wasn't terrible. The writing was fine, but that's as far as it went.

Hopefully part three is a return to form, but I definitely need a break for a few weeks before going back in.
These books dig into your time.

A combination of over the top dramatic performance and a story that didn’t really go anywhere was a disappointment for me. I really loved the first book and was hoping for expansion of the universe, but I thought this one got stuck in very personal themes I could not connect to.

The unnamed most wife and the book of Etta are an amazing piece of fiction hard to listen to at times due to the content but a clever story - the plot - imagination - the writing so skilled xxxx

did not expect it to turn into a soft porn lesbian book. very uncomfortable to read on

The first book was much better I think there was too much emphasis on what sexual preference the characters had and not enough thought put into the storyline. Shame...

The voice narration is brilliant but the story line of etta/Eddie seems ridiculous.
The first book , the book of the unnamed midwife is a lot better ( the unnamed midwife disguised herself a guy to protect herself *clever survival move* and the book focus on the downfall of society ) but this book is a serious miss .
It’s set in a post apocalyptic world 100 years after the first book and Etta is having a identity crisis. All she cares about is herself , there are slavers and terrible men and evil women out there in the world hurting the vulnerable but all Etta cares about is how she views herself. Is Eddie or Etta .
So If you want to read a book about a women who feels like a man sometimes and a women other times with that being the majority focus of the book go ahead .
If not please save your time and money and just read the first book alone. Treat it as a stand alone.

Terrible sequel , DONT READ. The book should be retitled as identity crisis with a apocalyptic twist
