About this listen
A post-apocalyptic fiction by N.C. Reed.
Billy Todd has always been different. Most people called him odd, and those were the nice people. Though he was born with a learning disability, Billy's parents never allowed him to consider himself disabled. Raised to be self-sufficient, Billy might not be as smart as some, but he was a lot smarter than people realized.
When the entire world is devastated by a plague that kills over 95 percent of the population, Billy is not helpless. Believing he may be the only survivor in his town, he manages to place himself in a good position to survive alone in a new world.

With this book however I felt I had to say something.
It was just stunning!!
I was a bit skeptical at first but thought I would give it a go. Th book had me engrossed from start to finish and I couldn’t wait to get back to it.
Billy Todd is a wonderful character and would love to meet him for real.😉.
I am in the UK and after this book, I would love to visit Tennessee (preferably not after a plague though).
Another thing which deserves complimenting is the total lack of vulgarity. So refreshing in this day and age when swearing, blasphemy and explicit content seems to be the norm.
Huge congratulations to you Mr Reed and brilliantly performed by Christopher Lane.
I will definitely be checking out your other books.
Kindest regards to you both.
Get this book, you won’t regret it.
Wonderful!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💥

By comfortable i mean it's a book where while there's a lot of tension, everything works out, always. Whether by sheer luck, fate, deus ex machina, it's a bit of a "cosy dystopian" in that regard.
You'll enjoy it if you like to read about sensible people forming and running a healthy community.
The ending was abrupt and unsatisfying, the big baddies that were built up throughout got sorted in a quick bit of action.
I do agree with a lot of reviews about repetitiveness and enforced gender roles, but it did not tarnish my enjoyment, only caused occasional irritation.
(One thing i wondered about though was thy hypocrisy of our group, foraging and emptying every shop and home while looking down at other groups doing the same and feeling sorry for folks who had to go without because there was nothing left around. Go figure. )
cosy-ish dystopian

There were fights but they were far more realistic and didn't take up chapter after chapter, fantastic book truly was.
