About this listen

In Arcadia, winter has no heart.

I make magic dresses for a living. I'm not rich or pretty enough to wear them, but I love what I do, working out of my family's shop on Carnaby Street in London - until the fae show up.

It's a straight-up kidnapping, and before I know it, I'm brought to this wintry place of cold hearts and beautiful nightmares, but that's not the worst part.

The worst part is, they think I'm fae, and I'm supposed to participate in some competition against a host of other women who have been training their whole lives for this. The prize? The winner is to marry the prince.

On the surface that sounds almost like a fairy tale, only this competition is brutal and bloody, and the prince is the jerk who kidnapped me. I can't get too close to him or he'll know I'm not fae, and then I'm dead. But I want to get close to him. His body burns with the fire of a cold star, and I'm drawn to him.

I need to fight the pull and survive long enough to find a way out of here, but these winter fae won't make that easy.

Contains mature themes.

Was having a bit of a reading/audio dry spell and couldn’t seem to find anything I wanted to listen/read, but then I came across this book. It’s actually really enjoyable! The world building was good maybe needed a bit more details on it but was good enough to be able to imagine the scenery. The main character was well thought through and a very likeable character, wasn’t annoying, stupid or overly confident like some of the characters from similar storylines. The narrator had a lovely clear and easy to listen to voice She really did make the character come alive.
All in all I really loved it and have actually went and brought the other two books. Looking forward to how this story is going to develop :)

This was absolutely fantastic, the creature's in it were completely terrifying. Also the storyline is very engaging, it flows really well and is filled with intensity that leaves you on the edge of your seat. I love how each of the characters are different, and extremely mysterious in some aspects. Gully is one of my favourite characters, when you listen to this you'll understand why. There is so much unanswered in book 1, I can't wait to start book 2. This is such an exciting series, and happens to be about the fae. One of my favourite types of fantasy creatures, the description of the fae in this is without a doubt incredibly interesting. I need to add the paperbacks of these to my forever growing collection.

keep your head in the game, or you will lose it.

I liked the storyline and the ease as to how it all flowed. At a difficult time in my life this was a good escape. Look forward to listening to more.

Although the story is interesting enough, it's too immature with poor logics. The dialogues are frustrating and don't help make the story any wittier or more sensible. The characters aren't likeable enough either. I read it until I couldn't stand it any longer.

DNF Not making much sense
