About this listen

In the frozen wilderness of Alaska, a cabin is readied for the winter. Jonesy and Lisa, with their loyal dog Lad, have been preparing their home to avoid a repeat of their horrific first year living apart from civilisation. They survived that. They’ll survive this. This was okay, early on I didn’t know if I could cope with it which is odd because I’m a fan of Jeff Harding’s narration (some of his females are dubious but they were ok in this).

I don’t think this is a spoiler, hope not, but there’s no backstory really and it left me wanting, something. But not for long, it’s not memorable just an entertaining few hours.

Occasionally you come across a little gem and as a free book I didn't really expect it to be this one but I was so wrong. This book draws you in & keeps you keen right up to the end! I can listen to this narrator all day,he does it do well!

The narrator has a weird rising intonation that I found offputting and unpleasant.
Bad grammar includes the protagonist telling the dog to “lay down next to me” (should be “lie”).

However, the plot is excellent. Quite traumatic, but exciting.

this book had me riveted. the story built from the 1st page, I couldn't stop listening. this is a new author for me, have listened to 4 books in the past 10 days, this is my favourite, having been to alaska. narrator jeff harding brilliant as usual. highly recommended.

Liked the pace and the story. Although guesses the outcome towards the last few chapters, but not enough to spoil it

I had previously found the narrator somewhat annoying on some other books but he has excelled in these stories by the same author- or maybe I have grown accustomed? Either way a great story well told
