About this listen
From USA Today bestselling author Devney Perry comes a sweeping Western romance about undeniable attraction, unforeseen circumstances, and seemingly unbeatable odds.
My first day in Montana, I got into a tug-of-war over a grocery store shopping cart. The most handsome man I’d ever seen broke up the scuffle before he asked me on a date. I was seconds away from accepting but then he told me his name.
As an owner of the Haven River Ranch, Jax Haven wasn’t my boss. But he wasn’t not my boss either.
Obviously, my only option was to turn him down, scurry away, then pretend like he was a stranger on my first day of work. And obviously, I could never, ever admit that he was my secret crush.
For as hard as I work at my job, I work twice as hard to pretend Jax doesn’t exist. I don’t let myself think about his dazzling eyes or charming smile. I refuse to acknowledge how good he looks in a pair of faded Wrangler jeans. And as tempting as he is in a cowboy hat, Jax is a distraction I cannot afford.
Everything was going according to plan until the annual holiday party. Until I drank one too many flutes of champagne and let him sweep me off my feet. After a night in his bed, there was no more ignoring Jax Haven. Not when I’m pregnant with his baby.

“A book that will have you falling in love with the hero and heroine as well as the gorgeous Montana setting, Sunlight was a heartfelt look at complex family dynamics and a passionate romance written in the stars.”—Harlequin Junkie
This book has tropes such as: Small town, Accidental Pregnancy, Workplace romance ect.
Sunlight is narrated by the talented voices Stephen Dexter and Ava Erikson for our Characters Jax and Sasha. Sasha, we briefly meet in the epilogue of Crossroads and there seems to be some tension between herself and Jax, and boy do we love tension ;).
Sunlight is set 7 years in the future from Crossroads!
Sasha is the new General manager for the ranch/resort. She's a very secretive person, she and Jax meet 3 months before the main timeline at the grocery store when Sasha tries to take a shopping cart from the supermarket in town, Carla the owner only supplies paper bags, so Sasha can't walk home with her several bags, Jax intervenes, and they hit it off. Once Sasha finds out Jax is Indiya's brother-in-law she pretends not to know him even though she lusts after him, Sasha's stand-offish nature rubs him the wrong way but Jax still lusts after her too.
I only recently listened to a few audiobooks narrated by Stephen and I wondered if he would be able to carry Jax's flirty nature and boy did he smash the assignment, and I wondered if Ava had the voice to carry Sasha's stand-offish nature and she did an excellent job and the chemistry between the characters was delivered with both of them.
This book had some spicy scenes but It did not need them! This book carried itself as much as its predecessor and the love they had for each other and the baby. They both had trauma but in the end they worked around it together as a couple and I just knew they would be end game!
Narration: 5/5
Spice: 2.5/5
Plot: 5/5
Overall: 5/5

This was a clear he falls first book with Jax trying to wear down Sasha while she was determined to just last a year in Montana, possibly save up some money and be gone as soon as possible. Jax did not definitely make it easier for her, especially with him technically being her boss, because she would prefer not to get mix up in anything personal and just get by.
The Eddie tale was a constant mystery that was only revealed at the end of the book. I had my suspicions but I have to admit I would have never guessed that Micah was Eddie's counselor at the youth camp! I would have preferred to know Eddie's story sooner but, on the other hand, that is one of the elements that kept me intrigued with this book.
I like audiobooks but I feel like it is too easy for me to be a bit distracted when listening to them compared to reading physical or e-books. I have a feeling that, despite this being an accidental pregnancy book, I would have liked the physical book even more than the audiobook. And I really liked the narrators so that did not take away from the book itself!

The plot itself is simply captivating. It’s a romance that’s both touching and deep, with characters who feel real and complex. The hero, with all his personal struggles, and the way the story unfolds, really takes the experience to another level. I felt every moment of growth, every shift in the relationship between the characters. It’s not a quiet story — it’s full of emotion, and there were moments when I just couldn’t stop listening.
What really makes the audiobook version so special is how the narrators brought it to life in such an intimate way. It’s not just about listening to the words, it’s about truly living the moments with the characters, understanding their internal conflicts, and feeling the complexity of their relationship.
In short, if you’re looking for a romance that tugs at your heartstrings, with characters who stay with you long after you’re done, Sunlight in audiobook form is exactly what you need. It’s just a fantastic experience. 🌟📚
