Summary
Duke Evans didn’t expect to find a beautiful woman in a staring contest with a bison on his favorite hiking trail. He also didn’t expect to see her again after rescuing her from the surly beast. As the sheriff in Calamity, Montana, he’s had his fair share of surprises but none as pleasant as pulling over a shiny black car and finding his mysterious hiking companion behind the wheel.
Only she lied to Duke. She gave him a name as fake as her hair color. According to her driver’s license, her real name is Lucy Ross, the famous country music singer whose sudden disappearance has been a hot topic on the radio over the past two weeks.
He’s not sure why Lucy lied about her identity or why she’s in Calamity. And she’s not talking. Instead, she offers him a bribe to keep her secret. Duke doesn’t want her money. He wants to know why this beautiful woman is on the run. And as long as the star shines on his badge, he’s going to find out.

slow start but it gets better
It started out a bit slow and but intriguing, built up to a great story . Can't wait for book 2.

Duke & Lucy
Absolutely loved this book! Romance & Police Procedurals are my two favourite genres, so the combination of romance and crime investigation in this book made me love it even more. I have just purchased the rest of the series so far to listen to, and I'm looking forward to enjoying those next. The writing is so rich and descriptive, I can absolutely picture the kind of small town described and the stunning Montana scenery, even though I'm English and unlikely to ever get to see Montana in person.
Brilliant narration from two of my favourite narrators. I am always especially impressed by Jason Clarke's ability to range from sexy gravel to a very convincing female voice.

thrilling romance
Loved the story about Duke and Lucy as it wasn't a straightforward romance.
Threats from a stalker prompted Lucy to hide in the small town of Calamity where Duke is the sheriff.
Packed with interesting characters this is a great read I gladly recommend ❤

Under the covers
Sadly a formulaic tale so often found in chic-lit, beautifully narrated but failed to hold my interest past 2 hrs. NOT FOR ME.
