Summary

‘Peter James is one of the best British crime writers, and therefore one of the best in the world’ - LEE CHILD, author of the Jack Reacher series

Discover the darkness that lurks around every corner in the latest instalment of the award-winning Grace series by Peter James, now a major ITV show starring John Simm.

A ruthless crime. A race against time.

In the dead of night, a farmer confronts the intruders of a break in, having no idea that the encounter will leave him dead. What’s more chilling is the truth of what the perpetrators were willing to kill for.

At the scene, DS Roy Grace senses that this is no mere botched robbery; it’s the tip of the iceberg of a nationwide crime epidemic. Ruthless gangs, operating with military precision, have discovered a new black market flourishing in the shadows – an unthinkable source of wealth even more profitable than drugs.

Grace’s investigation into this deadly trade pits him against people who will kill anyone who gets in their way.

Although the Roy Grace novels can be listened to in any order, Stop Them Dead is the nineteenth thrilling title in the bestselling series. Enjoy more of the Brighton detective’s investigations with One of Us is Dead.

Utterly Brilliant!

This book is a fantastic listen! The story is gripping and the characters very believable. It's really fast paced and had me hooked from the beginning. The narration is absolutely spot on, I'm just sad I've finished it and will have to wait another year for the next instalment!

Probably the best yet!

A very engrossing listen. Several different linked side stories that alternatively pulled at the heartstrings and and left the listener tense with anticipation, in equal measure.
Thanks for the positive Worthing name check Peter!

Excellent

Another great story from Peter James. I’d like to have seen a little more of Bluebell’s recovery at the end though, rather than just hearing the report that she was going to be ok. I would have liked a final image of her at home back to her old self. I did like the reassurance of the happy domestic scene in the Grace household. It’s an important ‘wind-down’ after all the tension. Looking forward to the next Grace book now.

Gripping, very topical story, and brilliantly read

A real action packed story about an increasingly sinister and unpleasant criminal activity. I urge would be dog buyers to read/listen to this book. Some aspects are truly horrendous. Great attention to detail, background research and description of characters. Bravo Doctor Shah!

Another great story

Really enjoyed the book. Some of the character’s decision making was a little frustrating and at times felt like walking through treacle but that’s just a reflection of human nature I guess.

Another expertly read Roy Grace book

Thoroughly enjoyed this continuation of the Roy Grace series with all the familiar faces. A very well researched book again expertly narrated by Mr Weyman. These books are always too short! Highly recommend this to readers who like a continuing narrative of familiar characters as the backdrop to an engrossing crime story. Thank you.

Bloody brilliant!

Enjoyed the story very much even found myself going back to bed in the afternoon, just to listen in peace.
It was fab to return to the familiarity of the characters of Grace, Branson, Potting, and Bouten. I enjoy the the comedic overtones between the main protagonists at Brighton & Hove Police.
The storyline of dog napping and puppy farming was enthralling and informative.

Never disappoints

A great subject to cover, especially now, more than ever.
Let’s hope anyone reading this book and thinking about buying a puppy from these horrendous puppy farms, makes them think again after listening to this book.
