Fun Vader times
Amazingly made and fun to listen to. I admit the clone wars part dragged in parts but listening to Thrawn toy with Vader made it worth it. It was also nice to see Stormtroopers be competant and not just cartoon cannon foder.

Stellar performance but story has some problems
I have to say that Marc Thompson's performance is excellent as usual. Like listening to radio dramas with several voice actors I loved as a kid. If you haven't listened to National Radio Star Wars Classic Trilogy, find it and do it. Mark Hamill is in it as Luke Skywalker, Anthony Daniels (and R2-D2 too).
Spoiler:
Story has some strange moments. It looks like Zahn didn't know he will write Thrawn: Ascendancy trilogy when he was writing this. Because he didn't.
He refers to Grysk as myths and stories, he never mentioned he stopped several of their advances on the Ascendancy in his past so even though he never seen them, he knew how to fight them. Seeing them is another problem. In Thrawn: Ascendancy, Grysk never allow themselves to be seen. They even blow each defeated ships to dust so there is no organic material to collect. And in this book they use completely different concept and are normally visible.
My other problem is Rukh. I love Rebels and I like that they brought Rukh the Nogri assassin back. But Filoni should've given Zahn a heads up, because now we have a second book in trilogy and Rukh is suddenly introduced without any backstory on where he came from, how he came into Thrawn's service or why is he loyal to death and insist on calling the Grand Admiral his Master. With Rebels, it gives a bit more insight, but one shouldn't be forced to watch a cartoon series to be able to catch everything in the middle of the trilogy.
I still like this book because of Grand Admiral Mitth'raw'nuruodo and Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader character development. And I still recommend it. I wish we could get edited version with another 3 chapters of Memories that would properly introduce Rukh and Nogri and explain his devotion to Thrawn. Not related to old 90ties Thrawn trilogy.

Very good, not as good as the first
Again, fantastic performance from Marc Thompson (of course). Regarding the story itself, there's a lot of great stuff here, but there's also some stretches of losing focus and meandering I think, I didn't feel quite so gripped as I did listening to the first book in the trilogy. Still, it was worth it for the highs, and I'm looking forward to listening to Treason next!

Thrawn in my side.
An absolute blinder of a story, halfway between Sufi and a murder mystery. Kept my interest all the way through, marvellous.
